Walkie talkies

If you want to use walkie talkies in a car convoy, abroad so maybe cheaper than mobiles, any suggestions?

I don't know much about CB radio's I assume they have more range?

Ok, so by the time I have bought some of these devices, I might as well buy a local sim card for a mobile phone... CBs seem to be the best choice for range but they aren't cheap and seem to need an external ariel.

You can get hand held CB's with the aerial attached. No need for an external one.

funny, i've just read through that one, what a coincidence that the subject comes up twice!

But at that price, which I suppose is fair for what they do, i'd be able to get to PAYG Spanish sims I bet

I was certainly glad to have the radios on a recent road trip when our convoy got separated in the middle of nowhere with no phone signal.

Mine are only cheapo Cobra Micotalks but range is still good for about a mile, easily long enough to shout at someone when they miss a turning or getting near a motorway junction.

I guess thats the level I was after...
I see your point about the legality, which is a crazy double standard I suppose!
