With only a week to go, is anyone looking forward to the release of the new MS Surface Pro 3?
After watching a few reviews and seeing how slick everything operates, this may be the device that i can upgrade too, from the laptop, and introduce smarter working with a tablet/laptop combo. I can see this device being used in the office as well as home, and will follow me everywhere.

The only downside that i can potentially see, is the use of a Haswell CPU instead of the Broadwell.
Granted, the latter isn't yet out, but it will mean that MS will most likely release a new version of Surface Pro in less that 12 months.
But looking at what the SP3 can do now, it pretty much ticks all the boxes for me; if i purchase the i7 with the max amount of SSD storage, then it should last for some time.

Does the Yoga allow the natural writing position, so that you can rest your hand on the screen and yet still write?
I thought that this one a USP for the SP3?

To be honest, i've not looked into the Yoga as a laptop/tablet combo.

Would be interested to read your views on why the Yoga is better than the SP3.

I'm still eagerly waiting for the release of the SP3 and on Saturday i was lucky to have a demo whilst in PCWorld (of all places), and whilst picking up an orange Yoga2 for my dad (coincidentally, given this thread); which he does praise. I'm impressed with the hybrid drive of 8GB for the OS, which makes the Yoga2 feel very snappy, but i digress.

The Microsoft guy was happy to run through the device and flick from one app to another, and also demo the new pen. I'm astonished at the performance of the device (the i5 and 4GB RAM), and how it physically felt.
I run an i7 4770K at home, with 16GB and a 256GB Samsung Pro SSD and Windows 8.1, the PC flies! But the SP3 felt as if it would keep up with daily tasks, such as emails and web browsing.
Whilst holding it, the device didn't feel too large in the left hand and even when writing on it, it was comfortable.
It has a nice solid premium feel to it and (this is going to sound geeky) that hinge is a supersmooth, a work of art. There was no notable flexing with the keyboard and the screen was very responsive to touch and to the pen. I didn't need to alter my handwriting stylus and i was impressed to see that the handwriting that was on the screen, was spot on to what i would see on paper.
So this I am going to be buying this asap. But now here is the problem.

I can see stores are offering the devices now, as a pre-order, PC World were even offering £100 cashback too. But i noticed that apart from Microsoft there isn't another seller offering the i7, 8GB, 512GB setup. It seems that the i7, with the 256GB drive is the best spec.
Although the 256GB SSD will probably be more than enough, i feel that the 512GB model will allow the device to be used for more than 18-24 months, and i wouldn't have to worry about what is installed. Apps such as Photoshop are huge storage hogs and i could foreseen the 256GB being used up within 6 to 12 months; unless i kept on top of what was stored.

So here's to hoping that a 512GB unit is released soon and with a nice little discount.

Can i buy the one i want today? Can i hell.
PC World Currys (with their £100 rebate), will not have any in stock until the 3rd Sep
John Lewis do not sell the i5 with the 256GB SSD
The likes of Argos only have the 64GB i3 version
CarphoneWare House do not sell the SP3

Where on earth can i get this today?
Seems like this may turn into a online order, which is annoying.
As much as i dislike Apple, at least they are able to sell you the item that is being officially released, on that advertised day.

I've followed suit and ordered it from the MS site too, but via Quidco. They were offering a £100 discount, so that's something towards the cost.
It's a shame as i was hoping to have it before the weekend.
