My work want me to learn and pass the exam for this but do not want to put me on a course for it. As such I have CBT Nuggets available to me, and I can install Windows 2012 on my computer at home (HP Microserver with VMWare).

Has anyone here sat the exam for 70-410? I am looking for tips to help me pass with knowledge, rather than just pass reading a bit of paper, so any advice is greatly appreciated!

I used nuggets, the MCSA book and the administering 2012 book.

IIRC questions about subnets ie how many pcs on this subnet, fsrm, dns, quite a bit of hyper-v and printer pooling etc.
Thanks - I might have to set up a Hyper V server as well as VMWare then, as VMWare is what I am currently using.

Sounds like my workplace. They want me to obtain a VCP5 qualification "to look good for clients" but don't want to pay the 3k fee, or take me out of the business for a week for the intensive course.
And the only way you can get the VCP5 is to do the official course. I bet they won't up your pay either!

Mine paid for it, you had to sign your life away though frown
A lot of companies do this. I am going on a SCOM course next week paid for by the company. I believe they are putting a 6 month clause on it.

Did you have to sit a course as well before feeling ready to take the exam(s)?

You don't think it's reasonable for an employer to get some small return on its investment in you?
I never said it wasn't. As it happens I didn't have to sign anything, which is just as well, as the course was very poor.

Nope, read the books, watched the nuggets.

I get one book with exercises, one without and the videos, it helps I have a vmware cluster at home but it's not needed.
Smashing, I'll get some books bought too then smile

I just about to start setting up my VMWare home labs as well.
