It's out, has anyone been brave enough to download it after the issues of the last few updates?

If so is it safe to update?

The delays are probably due to everyone thinking I'll update overnight and smashing the servers. You would think with how much money Apple make that they would invest in more servers.

Battery life on the iPad air sucks.
Carried out the usual checks for background apps running, usage etc, not very good.
I'm getting a week out of it. iPad Air. Its left in sleep the whole time (not turned off) and is constantly picking up mails etc. It probably gets tens of minutes a day of screen time, mind. I don't watch video on it. Then I'd expect eight to ten hours or so - no more.

Are you getting less than that?
Couple of hours if that, one game and a bit of browsing (no, not that sort of browsing). But I was in a hotel with a weak wifi in my room. Just got home and resetting with the back up to hand but wonder if the wifi uses more power if it has a low signal? I never turn off either, at the hotel, went through the usual suspects.

Edit. Before reset, trying it at home. Been on 100% for ages, certainly not dropping as fast as the last few days away. I updated the iPad then went away for work. Interesting.

My understanding is weak wifi will use more power to try and receive the signal.

No problem updating any of IOS 6, 7, 8.0, 8.1. etc etc

Do it via a pc/imac NOT wifi.
Whilst I think this is probably a very sound solution, I'd like to point out that I've never had problems with any updates over wifi on iPhone 4 or 5S ..... It's difficult, when it appears to work so well, to understand where people are having problems, although I do realise it's best to BE PATIENT with it and make sure you're powered.
Doing it over a computer means the install size is smaller, also Apple admitted yesterday that the issues with iOS 8 were due to the delivery of OTA updates which explains why some people reported issues and others didn't.
