Which Tablet For Business Use

So a change of roles within the company soon will mean i won't be office based 9-5 like i currently am.
I've been offered the use of a laptop, although i would prefer a tablet.
I will have use of my desktop when in the office, but the tablet will be used on the road/at home in the evenings.

Main uses will be for email, reading of PDF drawings (this is what it'll be used for on site) & why i'd rather have a tablet than a laptop, some light Excel/Word work.

I was pushing for a Microsoft Surface Pro, but i'm also looking for alternatives, attachable keyboard a must.
It also has to be Windows based so cannot be an 'Idevice'.

Anyone been in a similar situation that can help out & offer suggestions?

I'm only really looking for alternatives due to the price. (Accounts dept. moaning like usual).
Ports etc aren't really an issue, a USB would be a bonus but not essential.
