I've an iphone 5, that I assume is locked, that I want to give to Mrs Blib. It was on ee and has now been superseded by my new iphone 6. So, its sim has been 'turned off' (technical phrase) and the new phone now has that number.

We'd like to get the 5 unlocked so that Mrs B. can use it on her Vodaphone contract instead of the iphone 4 that she currently uses.

My questions are: Is it too late to get the phone unlocked now that its ee sim no longer works? Can the phone be unlocked without it having a sim in it?

Thanks.

Thanks. I assume that the phone needs a sim in it for it to receive the code?

EE do it officially for a little over £20 if memory serves. Takes a couple of days but is official.

Yes, I phoned them and what I need is Mrs B's vodaphone chip in the 5 handset and the link that ee sent to me.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'll probably be back in due course to tell you how I messed up the unlocking process. biggrin
