I have just seen Amazon UK have dropped the price of these for today from £399 to £99 (with no contract).

I know it has mixed reviews but at a hundred quid seems like a bit of an absolute bargain for anyone interested.

Some very poor reviews
...when it was priced at £400 it had 'mixed' reviews. Some were actually very good.

But at £100 it blows anything else at that price point out the water.

If you put on the proper version of Android it's actually an excellent phone - the main problem is that techies don't like the Amazon OS. smile

Could you stick a proper version of Android on this rather than the bastardised one?
I think you can - you definitely can on the Fire tablet.

I imagine any little phone shop can unlock it for a tenner.

It will. Works with O2 and GiffGaff.

I just noticed that in America they are selling them for $199 unlocked with a year of free Amazon prime. I would imagine that the same will come here as that is just dumping them. (Original price was $650).
You have VAT to pay on that price though...so really its $250/£170 - which is the same as the UK price if you added on Prime membership.

Exactly. Will probably flip it for a profit on eBay!

Nobody wants them, there is no demand. Prices for new ones have dropped on ebay to £31-70 with bids, some people still asking silly money (£125-180) but they won't be selling as they have no bids, only one I can see at a high price with bids is £102.
Not sure how hard you looked...the last one sold for £166!

Anyone confirm this? If so I'll get one ordered.
From what I've read it now runs Android Kit Kat and is indeed unlocked with the latest update.
