I am absolutly fed up to the back teeth with Sky. I am getting managed down to 0.3MB and they say it's acceptable, but I am within my rights to get out of my contract (double standards?)

Fibre is just around the corner (time wise) for us, so I'd be going to a provider initially for ADSL, moving to fibre in maybe a month or 2. So need to cover both bases.

We use the net fairly heavily, and want to stream, I also download programs too, so heavy useage, fibre won't be a problem, but some of the other companies insist on data limits.

I also got this email from sky recently "...We've also removed the Sky Broadband Connect traffic management policy - instead, there'll be a Network Management (or Fair Usage) Policy...". So, you've renamed it? I now seem to be limited at all times of day to 0.7MB.

Plus.net used to be top dog, still the same?

Bit more expensive but service is awesome & its 1 month rolling contract not 12 months contract.
Perfect, break the 12months with sky, get onto a rolling contract, and when fibre comes, go with the best deal.

A few more £ a month for something that actually works? Deal!

It's a regulated time - max 5 days:

Still, should be read out on the phone or sent via email straight away.

It can take a few minutes to generate but if you call them back it will be visible and can be read out over the phone.
Can I be fked to hold for 30 minutes to be told it's not posssible?

They really need to train their staff.

Looking at the queues at the moment there's, er, no queue.
I tend to wait most times I call them, so assume they are throwing st around in the office.

ETA: Well, I phones up, went through a 4 layer phone option to speak with someone who asked me 1000 questions, hear "oh fk" before "Hello and welcome to sky" and then said there was no MAC code.

I told him a manager told me it will be there, and as if by magic, I got it.

Shaved 5 days off the wait, thanks Chief. Sorry you work there...

How on earth have you managed to get throttled by SKY?!?!?! I've been with them for about 2 years and probably average 150-200GB a month downloading TV shows, blu rays and games etc. Never had so much as a warning e-mail.

As far as I'm aware they are one of the only ISPs who don't come after extremely heavy users.

Are you downloading the entire internet or something?
It's more sky's contention (words from their mouths). I live in a small village.neighbours with bt and other providers get good speed. Sky customer service is pants, so I just wanted out.

I do about 80GB a month, but it's 'fair networked' from day 1 of billing

Yes it's connect.

I just want away from sky and one to a provider who don't throttle. Sure bt will still, but surely I'll get at lease a little better!

I'm also now out of contract, so can pick who ever when I go for fibre. This is the best bit!

So all you need to do is pick whomever your favourite FTTC provider is, and put up with the throttled ADSL connection until then.

Out of curiosity, what's your exchange/whats the FTTC status of your cabinet? "Taking Orders"?
Yes. I was fed up with Sky, so I didn't want to use them for fibre, this way got me out of my contract. Regardless if I'll still be throttled.

I still think Sky are over limiting me though, so we'll see when I get swapped over to Zen on the 4th.

I'm at "enabled area", have been for 5 weeks. There are 2 cabinets on my exchange 1 is enabled, 1 is not. So hopefully soon.

Don't hold your breath, I've been in an enabled area for well over a year and my cabinet hasn't been enabled yet. Most of the rest of the town is now fibre but I'm not irked
Oh I'm not, why i've moved ISP.

I've seen cables going in 4 months ago, just enable the damn thing!
