So is anyone running iOS 9? I've just installed it on my iPad Air2 and so far I'm really impressed. The keyboard has slightly changed but I'm getting used to it but split screen working is really good and I'm really enjoying screen in screen watching a video whilst browsing pistonheads.

It's currently a beta so I expect some issues.

Welcome to the world of computing thats been available to windows desktop/tablet users since, well, forever (same goes for OS/X, but that hasn't ever formally been available in a tablet form)
Thank you for sharing.

As for release date it will be September/October with a public beta available from next month.

I'm debating updating my 4s this evening, current reports suggest a quicker experience and the aim from Apple is to improve battery life.

Wow 6 to 8 that's a huge jump. Honestly I couldn't tell you as it's been so long that I wouldn't be able to tell you if it will speed things up or slow things down. However I'm quite happy with iOS8 and iOS9 certainly feels like a step in the right direction.

If you've held off this long I'd probably hold off some more.

I tried following those instructions, and now my 5S is fked. It couldn't complete the update (and yes, I did download the correct file), and my phone just displays the Connect to iTunes icon. My PC can see it, but attempting to restore to factory settings or my most recent backup gives "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3194)"
That's very strange. I have always used D7's links and procedures and never had a problem. I can't say I've tried my 5s on ios9 just my iPad air2

So after a few days the battery seems to have settled on my air2 and I'm seeing a good improvement. It's a lot of minor improvements that add up to make a big improvement on iOS8.

I certainly like holding 2 fingers down on the keyboard to move the cursor around.

Interesting to see features that have been around on desktops (and windows tablets) finally coming to iOS ...

It'll be interesting to see how well iOS9 works on my 4S.
yes
Very funny when working both iOS and Android, for the past couple of years, iOS has been adding features while Android has been polishing animations. Both systems are getting more and more alike rather than growing a part.
Maybe because everyone wants the same end result?

Just installed it, looks like the phone app now has a database of UK STD codes, any number not in your contacts now shows the town the call originated from.
A very handy feature.

Is anyone else mystified by how Apple considered iOS 9 for for public release?

On my iPhone 6:
1) I can't connect to my home wifi
2) I can't update any apps (only 'open' them from the update page in the App Store)
3) I can't open any events in my calendar.

I also don't trust my alarm to go off tomorrow morning.
I was getting 2 but it seems to have resolved itself, I think it's related to load the App Store/Apple servers getting overloaded because everyone's downloading iOS 9.

Disappointed to find I can't install content blocker on my 5 frown
2 is the same for me, however, i am still on ios8 at the moment.
It's an AppStore issue not an ios8 issue. All my devices say open not update.

I was wondering about the news stuff as I have some articles when I swipe right from the homescreen, but can't seem to tweak what articles I see.

Are there any reccomendations for ad blocker extensions for Safari? I've seen Crystal and Blockr, but does anyone have experience with any?
Have installed Crystal.

Pistonheads loads lightning fast now

smile
I'm still getting adverts??

I've installed crystal, enabled it as it instructs and even did a reset of web data and still seeing adverts.

i've also noticed a number of apps keep crashing and also every second email i click on opens up half-way down rather than at the top. Load of st!
Apps crashing will be the app not optimised for the new iOS so blame the app developer.

This happens every iOS release and update on PH don't update for a week or 2 to find out if there are any issues.

Thinking about investing in a laptop. iPad 2 no longer works with any sort of speed when surfing. Or doing anything for that matter.
Remember the iPad 2 is technology that is 4 years old, my 4 year old laptop is in a similar position.

I didn't think you could get the Apple News app in the UK yet? My iPhone 6 certainly hasn't got it as part of the update?
I'm on iOS 9.1 which has it enabled.

I'm still having the frustrating offline music only issue that appeared with 8

I only want to see music that is physically on the phone, not all my purchases or Apple music. I use it purely as an old fashioned iPod.

So I've set it to show offline music only, and set it to not use mobile data for music. However when I list music then everything I've ever bought is there, including the stuff I put on, there's no distinction between the two. If I turn off wi-fi or log out then the extra tracks disappear (although it then keeps pestering to log back in).

Whilst I appreciate the 'always on / always connected' mantra might appeal to some people and Apple have obviously put in a lot of effort to make it, it's not what I want, I like to copy a bunch of albums onto the phone to enjoy that week, or test the mix of music I'm currently working on. I don't want to have to sift through a huge list of artists to get to the thing I want, nor do I want to risk accidentally using mobile data whilst playing music. I upgraded to the iOS 9.1 beta where this problem still occurs, I've sent a bug report to Apple, hopefully they'll nail it.
It's not really a bug though is it so I doubt Apple will do much with it.

I'm really effed off with this IOS9 update. Perfectly good battery life on my iPhone 6 has been reduced massively (lucky if i get through the day now). I wish I'd not updated and stayed on 8. Can you roll back to previous version - I assume not :-(
My battery life has improved although that is on a 5s. How long have you had it installed as it normally takes a few days to sort itself out.

It's been said many times on here though don't update unless you need to until all the bugs are found.
