i'll set the wheels in motion then...

I'd estimate a mid-late september release date as it would be one year after the 6.

rumours? What do you want to see?

  • Force touch
  • No more buttons
  • Battery life improvements
  • Bigger/smaller/different dimensions
  • 1080p screen or better
  • Improved camera(s)
  • Better sound
  • More storage
  • The elusive sapphire glass
  • New faster data protocols that are unusable in UK

Are you getting one?

i guess it will probably be evolution rather than revolution, being as it is "6s" and not "7", but Tim Cook has turned certain traditions on their head a bit since he took control. Might hang on and see the specs first before I decide!

not sure it's sufficient for me to upgrade from my current 6, but then that's why they use the 'S' smile

Apparently iOS9 is going to be released in versions optimised for older phones too. Hopefully it'll work well with my 4S which I've never taken beyond 7 due to nightmare stories I've heard about the 4S running 8. If so It'll be adequate compensation for no 6 'mini' appearing.
you probably won't be allowed the update and if you are then it will make it run like a dog so you are forced to upgrade the handset.

The beta doesn't give a good view of how the finished os will behave. Beta are only functionally complete, not performance etc.

Outright purchase is always cheaper over what would be the term of a typical contract. The 6 will also be cheaper than the 6s.

I've got a reasonable size music collection, some photos and a few apps and I used about half of the available space on my 128Gb

Orange, EE and I think T mobile are all the same now. EE is ok but st abroad. If you Roam a lot esp Europe then Vodafone is hard to beat.

I roamed Balarics Bulgaria France Germany Republic of Ireland this year with EE in all those locations I had no coverage issues. I paid up for the calls and texts upfront £5pcm each so easy to turn on and off when you go on hols. I didn't use Data outside of wireless as these were holidays not business trips.

That said every other carrier I've used I've not had any issue overseas
not talking about coverage, talking about cost. Voda £2 a day to access your home tariff from anywhere in europe. EE is about £5 for 100Mb of data that only lasts 24hrs, and plus that you have to keep pissing about buying it in chunks. Complete PITA and really expensive.

so is there actually anyone who's going from a 6 to a 6s or is it all people who have 5s or older?

I don't really have any intention of upgrading from my 6 (128Gb) to an equivalent 6s, after having seen the specs. I paid £700 for mine outright new, which was a year ago. Good used condition ones are going for about £500 on eBay. The 6s is about the same cost as the 6 was back then, so about £700. £200 to change is a lot for a slightly better camera and 3D touch which I currently am able to do without quite easily. Maybe I am not factoring in value of the adulation and envy amongst my friends and family.

downloaded iOS 9, wow!! A new childish font, and the app carousel now comes with added annoyance. I literally can perceive no other differences. Well worth 1Gb download.

I like it but then I've been using it for months.
Yes yes the public Beta. Anyone can opt for that but I'm not that bothered about it to be honest. It's meant to be for user testing feedback rather than being the first amongst your friends to have the new version. Anyway, what's happened to the two fingered select?? It's gone!!

Depends what you see as good money. Decent used 6 will have dropped £150-200 over what you paid new.

Well everyone seems to call themselves a developer these days so it's the same thing really. So as you're a dev can you tell me how I select a row of text in one gesture now then?
