I've got an iphone 5s, got it from the carphone warehouse on an ee contract in November last year.

It's developed a rattle inside, sounds like a screw is bouncing around inside it near the top, and on the occasional call, the listening speaker will distort and crackle badly for a few seconds. It can be stopped by shaking whatever is rattling about, so I suspect a screw is tampering with the speaker somehow.

What do i do, take it into the apple shop or something? Im assuming its free because it's only 8 months old. I put my serial number into the apple website and it confirms it's still under some EU law warranty or something.

And do they just insta-replace, or do they send away for repair? And if so, what do i do for a phone in that case?

Is it something they'll sort there and then, because my nearest apple store is an hours drive away, and I've seen less than favourable stories about getting a warranty phone sorted/fixed by your local network providers store.

I tried to book an appointment, the only avaliable one is in 6 days, at the 3rd furthest away store, at 90 minutes one way... fk that.

Can I just walk in to the nearest one or will I be scorned for failing to adhere to genius laws?

It's like turning up at an airport to buy a ticket for a flight, except you know it's already fully booked. You're hoping on a cancellation.

Just book the soonest appointment you can and put up with it until then.

If the noise is as obvious as you say, I'd be surprised if you weren't walking out with a brand new phone in less than 30 minutes after your appointment starts. I've had ones where I'm out the door in less than 10.
I don't want a flight.

I want a shop.

I also want a shop I can use before 7th August, and want to use the shop nearest me, not the 3rd nearest one, which is a 90 minute drive away.
