Following on from my previous post about upgrading the display on my laptop to 1080, I had ordered a cable convertor from 40pin to 30pin. Looking at the cable inside the machine I was wondering if it was easier and tidier to just change the cable. A friend has a similar Toshiba with a Full HD Screen and opened the back for me to look and his motherboard connector is different to mine - both machines are i7 and are still available to buy now.

Any idea what the cable connector in my machine is called, it's a 6pin push in type. Im ideally after a 6pin on one end and a 30pin to the HD panel.

Both push down, and clip down type are LVDS cables, do the screen side cables terminate with the same connector?

If they do, and the pin-outs are the same, then providing the cable reaches, and the screen physically fits, swap them and see.
The old screen connector on the panel is a 40 pin and the new screen is a 30 pin?

This is the LVDS cable trying to go into the new panel on my Toshiba - just a bit too big.
