Android tablet recommendations

My wife's birthday is coming up next month.
She currently has a ipad 4, she also had an iPhone, but after trying out my s5, went and bought a Samsung note 4, she much prefers the open platform Android offers BUT she also appreciates the look/feel/quality of her ipad.

I was looking at upgrading her currently ipad 4, Ideally with an android tablet.
I'm not up to date with the latest/greatest tablet ranges, so I begun looking at the apple range to get some sort of comparison.
The original 16gb ipad air is available for £249 which is about my budget (via argos at the moment, £319 through apple).

It'll get used to watch Netflix /movies, and browsing the Internet.

So to summarise...

1) Android tablet
2) similar size to an ipad (9.7")
3) Ideally have Expandable storage, but if it has 32gb, that would be plenty.
4) budget about £250
5) It should feel like it's an upgrade from an ipad 4 (retina), look/build quality and performance. I have a feeling I'm going tostruggle, and will probably end up having to just get her a ipad air, but I'm hopeful someone can come up with a suggestion.

I've always looked past lenovo strangely...
I'll look into that.

The Samsung looks good, they seem to have a ridiculous number of tablet, with various makes, can't make sense of it
