What a lovely company. Looking forward to the fanboys justifying this 'security' update hehe

I understand the issue thanks. There's no need to brick the phone. At all. Why not scramble the data and be able to restore it from the Mac it's backed up to?

Because £££ that's why. They are trying to kill off the 3rd party repair market. Security my left bk.

It's an issue for the tiny minority of people who use (expensive or just ostentatious) third party headphones which will no longer be compatible. Normal people will just use the ones that came in the box with the phone.
Normal people who don't give a st about the quality of their music and are satisfied with the standard Apple headphones - check.

I love how even people who stray from the use of Apple headphones attract your ire. Spectacular fanboyism laugh

Is this you?
Of course it isn't Steve. I do like your sneering at people who would dare to desire a pair of decent noise cancelling earbuds though, simply because they don't have an Apple logo on them. Awesome.

Interestingly that is the single interface that they will never remove as their phones would not longer be able to interface with the majority of their fans.

Not really their problem, is it, since they won't be in possession of an iPhone with a botched repair to the security system.
Steve. Do tell us how a replacement touch sensor is a botched repair. Show working.

New sensor paired correctly with secure enclave = job done properly
New sensor not paired because repairer is ignorant of the need to do so = botched.
Not quite Steve, not quite.

It only became a problem when Apple retrospectively added a security feature in a new software version without warning anyone. And decided the correct course of action was to brick the phone when users upgraded.

it makes perfect sense to wipe the device
Do you understand the difference between the terms 'wipe' and 'brick'?
