Can anybody recommend some software that will let me do the following?

I need to take 2 separate videos and be able to play them simultaneously on a split screen layout. The ability to include a timer on the screen would be an added bonus.

I don't mind if there is a watermark or software name on the screen. The background story is I can show a decrease in time on a manufacturing process but as well as the numbers I thought it would be cool to show the actual reduction in a video where they both start at the same time but the new process finishes before the old one.

Cheers guys, I'll have a play with the Windows software and have a look at some other options. If I get it to work I'll post the results up!

If all else fails I could edit this at work in about 5 mins smile
Thank you very much for the offer, I'm trying to do it myself at the moment.

You will know if I've failed!

Lightworks is very capable, even the free version.
2nd for Lightworks. Very steep learning curve but once you've got the basics you can create come great edits very quickly.
Downloaded the free version last night and followed an online tutorial for doing a split screen but it doesn't look like that feature is available on the free version.

Tried on movie maker too, but the online tutorial for split screen editing was for an older version and it didn't follow what I was seeing on the screen.

The quest continues!
