Hi,

Can anyone help me out?

I have a WordPress site which was done by an ex colleague as a favour so support from that source unavailable.

He showed me how to use the functions at handover and I have managed to enter my own text, add tags and so on but I'm now stumped.

Last time logged on as admin I saw that there was a critical update available for my theme so I clicked the button, since then 2 things have changed and I'm struggling to put it back to normal.

1 - Not a massive issue but my logo looks a bit st in the top right hand corner, it just looks less integrated than it originally did. This is not a massive issue but would look more professional if it could be manipulated.

2 - My regulatory notices at the foot of the page are missing, in fact they are there and are only visible if I click and highlight, a bit like black text on a black page. I believe that this is the footer and it's something called PHP and I think that I can locate the relevant page in my website but haven't a clue how to change it.

I know it's a long shot but does any of this guff mean anything to you?

Could be a hundred things unfortunately.

If you or you developer have made changes to the theme then it's almost certainly replaced those changes with the update. The theme developers work on the assumption that you won't be changing their code.

Might be worth checking that your plugins are up to date. If a theme update is released to be compatible with a WP update, it can affect plugins.

Obviously you have it all backed up so can just roll back...?
Backed up?

Not exactly, as in I've only just discovered that this is possible and important.

The only change that's been made in the last 6 months is the theme update, bloody thing said it was critical so I just did it.

There are 7 plug ins that are asking for updates, I'm a bit nervous given my theme update experience, are updates generally a good idea?
