Transferring an expired domain - help!
Discussion
Just discovered that one of my domains has expired thanks to no reminder emails from the registering company.
I want to transfer it to a different registrant (TSOhost) so have gone through the procedure on their website, which it says is free. It occurs to me that perhaps this won't work as the domain has actually expired.
Anybody know what the best thing to do would be? I don't want to carry on with this if it's going to delay the whole process, but ultimately I am losing business while the domain is down so time is of the essence...

FFS, renew with the existing provider then transfer it, the existing provide will typical have it on hold or redemption lock anyway to prevent it being 'stolen' by a domain 'hijacker'
I can't, as Register1 helpfully say that "We have taken the decision to no longer process new orders or service renewals on the Register1 platform. All existing subscriptions will continue running until the expiry date when they will cease, unless they are migrated to a different platform."
