For me it's either this or the OnePlus 4 whenever it's released. Although I'm not sure my Nexus5 will last that long. 3 charges per day at the mo!

Not for the 64gb gunmetal one.
Yeah, wanting a 128GB one... grumpy

About to place an order, but wondering what people have been doing for "protection".

I have always been a screen protector/bumper case person, I am not rough with my phones but like to minimise the chance of damage.

Going with either Ringke Fusion or Orzly Fusion bumper cases - had a Ringke on my Nexus 5 that has been pretty good (although nothing stops the dust getting into the ports frown

Not sure what to do with screen protector though - OnePlus sell Tempered Glass ones which are supposed to be good, but there is one that doesn't extend to the sides (because of the curves), and one that does. Problem is that the former doesn't protect the whole screen (although bumper would hopefully solve this) but light refracts at the edges and touchscreen not too responsive. With the latter I understand a bit of the screen becomes unviewable under the protector which is annoying.

Leaning towards the latter but wondering if it is redundant with the bumper case...

Anybody?

Cheers - I did look into them but I wasn't happy about the protection it afforded so will definitely go for a bumper case of some description.

I didn't know it came with a screen protector - presumably the usual cheap plastic thing? Might use that along with the bumper case for a while and see how I get on...

Ordered!

Just realised I have had my Nexus 5 for 3 years, cost £340. Bloody good value really. £450 for the 128GB Oneplus 3T. Still better than Pixel / Galaxy / iPhone etc...

thumbup Thanks, I will keep the protector on, and perhaps replace with a OP one if I want an upgrade. Have always had a screen protector on since I dropped my Sony Ericsson P900 and smashed the screen...

How quickly have they turned up in comparison to the lead times chaps? Mine said "4 weeks" but I'm hoping it won't be that long...

I like my 3T very much. I used to need a charge or two a day on my clapped out old Nexus 5. I am quite a heavy user and very rarely do I need a charge during the day. Got no complaints with mine.

Just had mine out of its bumper case and it really is a lovely and very tactile thing. I hate phone cases but I know I will break it without one.

For those looking for one, I was torn between the Orzly and Ringke clear bumper cases. Went for the Orzly one in the end but it has discoloured on the rear edges and is a bit yellowy brown. Just bought the Ringke for about £7 from Amazon and it is much less bulky and the volume switch is more accessible. Should have bought that in the first place!

Still like mine, although the battery life isn't quite as good as it was at 3 months old. Could be that I'm using it more or have a power hungry app. AccuBattery reckons 89% battery health but it hasn't dipped from that in a fortnight.

FWIW my wife's Nexus 6P is dieing at 15%. Annoying as it's only just a year old and battery health is still low 70s. I'll never buy another Nexus (or Pixel) product.

I've not tried any of those things specifically but not noticed any issues with WiFi or BT. I have used a few different wifi networks without an issue, and my dashcam has a wifi hotspot and I can select that or my home one no problem. I stream BT music to an old Kenwood car stereo and also to a Parrot MKi-9200 without any problems. Can't remember if the metadata comes through.

Re charging, the Dash charge is highly impressive although I tend to use it overnight which renders it a bit pointless. I usually take a booster pack with me rather than a charger so it's not that important to me. Normal USB-C charge times seem OK and not noticeably slower than my Nexus 5.
