Had my email address for about 25 years.

Runs via Orange (now EE) on a freeserve address.

EE are now closing this server down with a complete loss of access at the end of May.

This is going to be painful as my email address is linked to virtually all my internet sites.

Not pleased.

Amazed it's taken them this long to close them down. Some years back you had to reset access every year or two but then they stopped that. Thanks to the OP for flagging this up - must migrate off my last few addresses.

Out of curiosity where was this posted/announced?

Yes it's been a long time, but email addresses these days are essentially used to ID an individual and shouldn't really be discontinued.

I'm likely to pay for a permanent address from now on.

What will happen when Google closes down in 25 years?

I prefer an smtp setup rather than imap as I save all emails into Outlook on my laptop and delete them from the internet mail server.

Can I do that with Gmail?
