With the rumoured Samsung S8 due out any time soon and me due an upgrade....

I have always been a Sony fanboy up until two years ago when I didn't fancy the Z3 (latest model at the time, but had been out a while) and went for a HTC One M9 which to be fair, has been brilliant - all but the camera which is woeful. But luckily I don't use the camera much, but that might be down to me knowing it's rubbish, if you follow.

Is the S8 going to be much better than the S7 edge? Like night and day better? Is the Sony XZ going to be replaced anytime soon?

I have all my music and pictures on a 128GB Micro SD, so a micro SD slot is essential, I know the S6 Samsung didn't have a slot, does the S7/S8?

Read a lot of reviews of stuff on the internet, comparisons on TechRadar and the like, but can anyone give me some real world feedback on their S7 or XZ? I leaning towards the S7 Edge as there are some good deals out there clearing the way for the S8 but am also drawn to the XZ.

I've got an S7 edge and it does take a microSD card. Screen resolution is very good and the camera is excellent as well. Where it falls down is in one handed operation (unless you've got really big hands I guess) and when you want to hold it and watch video or the like - the screen wraps round the edge so far that it can be difficult to hold the phone without touching the screen and activating some functions accidentally.

They are also pretty fragile - they don't drop well - and it's £200 to replace the screen, assuming they have them in stock which was a problem when I broke mine.
I like my M9 for that. The metal casing really makes a difference. Just replaced the screen on my GF Sony Z5 compact - £100.

Samsung's always felt a bit flimsy in the past, although my S2 was surprisingly robust, just didn't feel it.

One thing I didn't mention is my M9 is a bit crap in sunlight, what's the S7 like?
