Hello all.

I have a friend (Bob) who has just purchased a netgear wireless broadband DGN1000 router for use with AOL.
He was told that this is the only one which will work with AOL (purchased in PC world).

Can anyone tell me if there is any special setup procedure for AOL? I have a netgear router with BT and it's just a simple case of entering the user name, no password.
I've entered Bob's user name and password into the router, but authentication has failed. He seems to think his user name is his email address, bobsurname99@aol.com

Can anyone on AOL tell me if the username is in the correct format or if this information should be available somewhere? AOL's helpline was taking too long to get through last night.

I've just done this and the hit the username password problem to get the router to login, I had the orginal correct detals which were as you have above ie bobsurname99@aol.com and your password. But the tts at AOL have changed router login details remotley without informing the users. After 2 * 20min phone calls to get the correct login details, they eventually told me what to use which is @dialBB.com and password aol123 the router logged in straight away the dirty rotten scoundrels BAH!

So in your case bobsurname@dialBB.com password aol123
(NB can't remember if the BB in dialBB was in caps, or just dialbb)

Thanks everyone for your help. I'll try the above login format later.
Much appreciated! drink
