C36 AMG, talk to me.

Feels like a massively underrated model to me. Lovely raspy I-6, much more of a bonafide AMG job than the 430-engine they hoyed into the C43. BOdywork better as well in my subjective opinion.

Which year is the the one to go for? Any difference in power etc?

a crying shame...that engine is so special, why anyone would pick the C43 baffles me, its just a E430 engined hoyed in there...

I do see the appeal, its just that the C43 is basically a E430 engine hoyed in there, whereas the C36 is such a from-the-ground-up AMG creation, massively modified. It also sounds fantastic on full song, and is just as fast as the C43.

As special as the C43 is, it is for me too close to what a C430 would be for me to pick it over the C43..
Im happy people disagree though, means the C36 is even cheaper to buy.
misunderstood car though, and for that reason the numbers are dwindling..good ones are already hard to come by.

Top post matey! For me it has to be an early C36 with the 4-speed. The sound, oh god. Its so beautiful I almost start crying when I hear it.

Its all a matter of taste isnt it! I much prefer the earlier body, and an throaty i-6 in a merc just does it for me!

I know the C43 engine isnt just off the shelf, yet its much more of a "hoy-in" than the C36 which to me feels more like a "from the ground up AMG job". No stroking and taking it from 280 to 300ish just seem like a bit of lazy badging to me..

The answer is quite simple. Any rust? If not,its just nuts and bolts and its bulletproof in that area.
