Morning all,

I mentioned it in my last update on our 507 Wagon long-termer but thought I'd post up here too about the proposed meet-up for C63 owning PHers. I've got a couple of proposed dates - August 2 or August 23 - and a location between Aylesbury and Bicester with some V8-friendly hosts and some interesting cars to tyre kick above and beyond a load of AMGs. It's a Saturday morning but the tactical plan was that by locating it near Bicester any other halves, etc, can be dropped off at Bicester Village and left to amuse themselves for a bit while we geek out over AMGs. For those who don't know this part of the world it's an easy run up the M40 from the M25 junction (c. 30-40min) for those coming from London and not too bad from the Midlands either. You can get across from the M1 via the A43 pretty painlessly too.

Tea and bacon sarnies will be available - may be a case of dropping a couple of quid in a tin but TBC - and if you're up for it please drop me a line directly with your preferred date and after the votes have come in I'll announce which one we're going for based on a simple majority. Apologies in advance if it doesn't suit but I'll try and ensure the best turn out.

We'll do a story off the back of it and I'd love to chat with you about your C63 ownership experiences and hopefully we can stage a big group photo with all the cars together but we'll see how many we get!

Cheers!

C63 owners' meet: August 23rd
--
Greetings all,

First up sincere apologies to those who can't make the 23rd; I've let the thread roll on a bit and digested the emails and though I realise it won't work for everyone there's a clear majority in favour of the later date.

That out of the way a few more details; it's a totally informal meeting but if you are coming I'd ask that you please DM me via the profile link to confirm attendance so we know how many to expect and, most importantly, cater for.

Our hosts are Topcats Racing, known for TVR servicing and conversions but also their race support. Suffice to say there will be some interesting cars on site to have a look at and the guys will be happy to show you around their glitzy new workshop, which caters to both road and track cars. The location is interesting too - they're based on an old RAF base previously used to develop rocket engines so there's a little more to it than your average industrial estate. It's dead easy to find too, being just off the A41 mid-way between Bicester and Aylesbury. Location details here:

http://www.topcatsracing.com/contact/

We'll say aim for 0900h and hang out for a couple of hours before going our separate ways. It'd be nice to get some sort of group photo at some point; given the location there's space for us to do that.

In terms of catering Topcats can do us a bacon sarnie and teas/coffees and we'll ask for a contribution of £2.50 in a tin to cover costs.

I'll post this in the thread too but, as I say, please do email if you're intending to come to confirm attendance as we'll need to come up with some manner of 'ticket' for you to be admitted on site.

Cheers and see you on the 23rd!

You're in!

And a few have asked about additional occupants in cars - no problem there, I'm more interested in the number of cars so we have an idea of how much space we'll need to allocate on site. Useful to know if you are bringing additional mouths to feed so we have an idea on catering though so if/when responding just let me know if you're bringing anyone else.

Cheers,

Dan

Morning all!

Have collated names and numbers and will be sending final joining instructions out later today but it's basically as per original pitch: 0900h at Topcats at Bicester, £3 a head to cover butty/brew and though it's not going to be a rigid door policy C63s (or recent ownership experience thereof) appreciated.

See you all on Saturday and if you replied but for some reason don't have a mail from me by close of play by all means drop me another PM.

Cheers!

Email sent with an invitation to print out to get you in the gate - if you haven't seen this please drop me a line and I'll send it to you.

And Grant, feel your pain. The man from Mercedes has confirmed he wants his 507 back and it's just a few weeks from being prised out of my hands. weeping

Cheers all and see you Saturday!

Thanks all for supporting the meet and coming along, it was great to meet you all and I echo the statement that C63 owners seem to be a very nice bunch of folk. Group hug, etc... A big cheer also to Charlotte and the rest of the Topcats guys for hosting us. We're talking about doing a Sunday Service there some time in the near future so watch this space.

Two main conclusions from this event though. One, daddy day care and hosting a car meet don't necessarily go well together, though Junior T was very much appreciative of all the tyre warming and the rev off. The louder the departure the more enthusiastic his impression of it afterwards. Definitely nurture, not nature there! Apologies to all those I had to break conversations with to run after a toddler...

Second? I'm really, really, really going to miss my 507 when it leaves in a few weeks time. Grant's sharing my pain in this but I really have loved every minute with the car.

Better to have loved and lost, eh?

Anyway, thanks again to all those who attended, commiserations to those who couldn't make it for whatever reason and we'll have to do it again some time ... when I've gone out and actually bought one!

Pics, vids and coverage to follow on homepage next week and in final farewell report shortly after. That may get emotional... weeping

Cheers,

Dan

He's not wrong on that one... Wagons FTW! I may also have indulged in some 'tyre warming' for the camera before departure that had Warren wandering out and asking if the car had a line lock fitted. biggrin Obviously I waited until the guys from Mercedes had gone... From the arrival/departure of Paul with the mad 750hp Sagaris I get the impression it's considered bad form NOT to lay down rubber outside the workshop, hope the neighbours aren't too worried about the number 11s. Ahem.

Few pics below, 'proper' ones from snapper Chris to follow.

Cheers,

Dan

Snapper Chris has sent through his pics, which I'll be adding to the story. Thought I'd share this one though. Since I had my 'final collection' email from young James (he from Merc with the black AMG polo shirt and with the Black Series) I've been inclined to feel a bit melancholy. This is, of course, a waste of energy. Far better to make the most of the time I have left together with the car and enjoy it in the spirit intended!

Cheers,

Dan

And in case anyone was worried/about to call social services Junior Trent wasn't in the back of the car when this nonsense was going on and was fully supervised a suitable distance away. biggrin
