SL500 R129 Roof Fault

[Atlas 12v]

1994 SL500 with a roof fault on closing. Roof lifts as normal but the catches above the sun visors won't engage. This I suspect is then stopping the process and means the leather shelf or roof housing won't close back down and the rear half of the roof, bit with the window in, will not fold in to it's "roof up" position.

Does anyone have experience of this problem or similar?

As a side note when fitting the hard top the above mentioned catches engage without fault...

Thanks for the tip. Disconnecting the battery was going to be my 1st move but I'll add in cleaning the plugs!
