Merc Techs; engine swap advice please...

I have a 98 C240 Estate which I love, but is rather lacking in the 'Go' department. I have been looking at the low prices of similar aged E55 saloons and thinking of an engine swap. I have experience of 'old school' swaps ( Ford & Chevy V8s into Capris/ Zodiacs and Cosworths into various things ) and fabrication, but nothing relatively 'modern'. Apart from the greasy bits what else will I need to pirate from a donor car besides the ECU/ Engine loom? Thank you in advance.
Yes 74Merc, the electronic witchcraft is the bit I need some clues about. I know that the EIS will have to come from the donor vehicle with the loom, but I am sure there are some other mysterious black boxes which it will also need. I guess I will be doing the r&d myself on this one! Thank you both for your input
