About three weeks ago I collected a new GLC 220d Sport which I'm very impressed with as my new daily drive.

However, on two occasions, there has been a strange issue whereby one headlight (definitely not a parking light), one tail-light (same side as headlight) and the interior lights have come on by themselves.

Both have occurred at night. Each time the car has been locked with all doors correctly shut and in Park with the parking brake on. The headlight switch has been in the Auto position and had not been moved at any time. On locking, all exterior and interior lights have extinguished as normal.

The car is fitted with the standard LED headlights.

I'm intending to call with the dealer early this week but wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar?

Well, the issue is sorted. Possibly...

The dealer took the car in for nearly a week and said that they could see the problem was happening but couldn't figure out why. No fault codes showing and Mercedes reporting that they weren't aware of anything.

In desperation, they undid and re-seated all the connectors in the lighting circuit in the hope that there was a loose joint somewhere. They asked me to monitor it.

All was well for a few months (at least, I didn't see anything abnormal) but then it started again. Once more, it went back to the dealer who advised that they would need it for around a week. After a couple of days they called to say they were confident that they'd fixed it via a software update. That's probably about two months ago and, so far, all seems well. However, given that it's an intermittent fault, I'm not yet convinced that the solution is permanent. I guess time will tell.

Perhaps it would be worth asking your dealers to contact Mercedes Belfast and mention that they've dealt with a similarly haunted vehicle!
