Found a decent looking 2002 W211 E55, the seller mentioned it needed pads, however he then said it had a brake warning on the display, would that show as a Brake Wear or is he possibly looking at the SBC needing doing ?
If the SBC needs doing, how much is it and what kind of a job is it to do ? I have seen 2 grand quoted.
Is there a way of telling how many cycles it has left and I have seen stuff about getting the counter reset, is that actually safe, they start with 300k cycles and count down I believe, how many get added ?
Just want to not get a car and then get lumbered with a big bill for what in effect is a bloody stupid idea !

Not sure if it is a problem or not yet but dont think it make any odds which car it is as to whether its dodgy, it seems to be down to the lifespan of the brushes in the motor, people have managed to put new brushes in and then reset on star but I think the reality is that it will need £1200 spending in all likelihood.
