Hi I am trying to find a car to export to Tunisia (where my wife is from and where I have a holiday home) to avoid the horrific local taxes on cars. The car has to be less than 5 yrs old and I have looked at various options around the £10k mark. Then I stumbled on this:

http://www.greenwichknight.co.uk/used-cars/alfa-ro...

It is new old stock (from Mexico, where it went unsold). It seems to be good value for a new car, albeit an old model. List price was around 28k, though this one seems to have a few options. I never imagined I would ever buy a new car but I seem to be persuading myself that it would be a good idea since I don't want to spend my holidays taking it to be repaired.

I'd love to hear whether you think this is good value/a sensible thing to do, plus I am very keen to hear from anyone with experience of the Alfa Qtronic semiauto box. So should I go for a 3 yr old 4 pot 3 series with 50k on the clock at 10 grand, or this new old 3.2 v6 at 16?

Thanks guys
Pirran

Chris thanks so much for the advice! Well the fuel is about half the Uk price in Tunisia, plus the car won't be used all that much anyway, so fuel economy is not such an issue. Thanks again.

By the way are you a member of Alfaowner.com by any chance? I tried to sign up to ask a similar question to a much more captive audience instead of the general audience on PH, but each time I signed up, I didn't receive the authentification email. When I cancelled the account, however, the cancellation email came through ok. I tried 3 different email addresses but to no avail. I have emailed the forum owners/admin, but not received any responses. If you're a member I'd love some advice - or even a repost of my post on there would be fantastic!

Cheers

@ chris - ok thanks anyway, and commiserations! Best put your name down for a 4c!!!

@ Foxy - LOL fair comment. Worth the risk though at that price I reckon, considering the constraints I have due to the import rules. Please cross your fingers for me.

cheers
