I'm looking at swapping my Audi for something a bit different.

I've been considering a 2 litre diesel Alfa Romeo Giulietta. I can pick one up for under 6 grand in decent condition with under 80k on clock.

I am yet to test drive one, but have read all the reviews and they do seem to have a few minor faults, such as the bad placement of the speedometer, lack of foot space in drivers footwell.

I do under 10k a year mileage, but everyone else seems to drive around in diesels without too many issues. If I give it a blast down motorway every few weeks it should be ok.

Looking forward to hearing your opinions.

Audi A3 1.8 TFSI, or Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2.0 diesel.

Alfa's diesel lumps are pretty good AFAIK, so engine wise that is you sorted. Handling wise the reviews all praised the giulietta as one of the best FWD cars out there, so it should be a good step up from an A3.

Id go for it (but possibly consider a petrol engine for that mileage)
They do a 1.4 turbo petrol, but according to figures it has worse fuel consumption than my Audi, with less horse power.

Could be, ive had the same 1.4 in two guises in two mitos, both did 9L/100km, but at least part of that was down to my right foot.

Are you going by factory numbers or real world averages though? I tend to use spritmonitor.de for my mileage estimates when looking at a car, so far my 147 has beaten the german average quite decently, so im happy.
I'm going by factory figures. My Audi suppose to do 42mpg, it does 30mpg real world. The 1.4 Alfa suppose to do 36mpg, real world who knows.
