Thanks

Its an original UK RHD car. It was driven to Denmark in the eighties by an English guy who ended up staying there. He couldn’t register it in Denmark due to the 180% import tax so it was stored for decades. It has just had a full restoration completed today in Denmark by Stelvio

Very nice to see a Step Front GT Junior that hasn't been converted into a GTA look-alike thumbup.
That looks like a very thorough restoration.

I think I would have kept it on steel wheels, and are those seats the original style?

The wheels aren't original and neither are the front seats. Also Eibach lowered suspension with yellow KONI's but everything else original spec.

It will be shipped in a week or so time and then I have to pick it up from the docks at Southampton. Get it MOT'd on the way home and taxed. Probably just after Easter or before would be good. Its still UK registered so should just be a simple case of a change of keeper. It was last taxed in 1983!

Found an interesting website called howmanyleft and it tells me that there are only 37 GT 1300's still registered in the UK. I wonder how many of these are imported or original to the UK

Long story but just got car back from Aflaholics who finished off the restoration to the high level I was expecting. Pictured outside my office in the Devon sunshine after 30 years of being stored in Denmark, its back in the UK again. How do you open the boot! Very pleased with myself!

Should be a lever in the upright of the driver's door opening which opens the boot.

That's because you have the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car wink
Ha ha I see! Its a neat little switch and keeps the lines of the car unspoilt.

Scalino, i notice you also have a GT Junior 1300, do you still have the original engine in yours or have you swapped for a larger one?

It still has the original 1300 (rebuilt once in the eighties), still going strong. Maybe not strong in the horsepower departement... (this is what you're getting at I'm assuming), but it's quick enough for me and my usage (running it to the redline it on back roads). Part of the fun for me is that it feels and sounds quick, while it really isn't, which also helps minimise the fines smile

Would a 150-180hp be more fun? Maybe, but not worth it to me (yet). Something that adds in here is that my father's car (a Fiat) is around that top number, so if I want to go quicker I can by taking that one, fortunate I know.
Also if I would go for more power, I would be an idiot and want to use a 1300 and make it a screamer. It would cost a fortune and wouldn't make anywhere near the power (and more importantly torque) of a well built 2.0, but who wouldn't want a 8.000 rpm 1300...? As that will cost an insane amount of money, that's not in the foreseeable future wink
That is the conclusion I have come to too. I want to keep it original and like you I have another car for more power. I have been discussing putting in a C&B fast cam which should add 15bhp. The feedback I'm getting is that this is the only worthwhile mod to the 1300 engine. It also keeps it looking original as well which I like.
