My partner is looking to buy new 150bhp diesel Ti model in red. I have to say it does look awesome. Anyone got one? I have concerns over the Alfa servicing and reliability although she'll only be doing 8K a year.

Any feedback greatly appreciated. Also if anyone got one for less than £16k I'd love to know to use it for negotiation

I am up in Aberdeen, but thanks for the recommendations guys.

Big Ned, I assume you work for an Alfa dealer, where are you? What's your best deal on a 3 door, pre-registered diesel Ti?

Can you find out if Arnold Clark in Aberdeen is likely to be one of the dealers looking their franchise, problem with this far up north is the next dealer is likely to be over 100 miles away.

It's not so much servicing but warranty.... Will need to ask them where it goes for warranty work. Arnold Clark also have Fiat, if they loose that then I would be totally screwed.

What is a "ALFA ROMEO 147 JTD Ti M-Jet 150bhp"

I assume this is a lower spec than the Ti. Does it have cruise control for example?

We test drove the diesel today, not impressed, the car was great but that engine sounds terrible, what's with the turbo "whistle", wasn't even quick for 150bhp, 1st and 2nd are useless. Anyway, it's not put us off, probably just diesels aren't for use (I am true petrolhead with a supercharged BMW Z4 3.0).

Going back to test drive the 1.6 and 2.0, hopefully one of those will be suitable. I assume the 2.0 will be smoother and quicker, just worried about the cam belt issue I've read in a few places. On the other hand they have a gorgeous 1.6 Ti in stock, pre registered ready to go

Will keep you upto date. Looking forward to Sunday.

Hi guys,

Just a quick update. My partner chose a pre-registered 147 Ti 1.6. We got a really good deal and a very good trade in so smiles all round. She loves it, very comfy, the toys are nice and it looks stunning in red.

Only issue is the poor fuel consumption. It's averaging 26.8mpg, which is probably nearer 25mpg in real life. My supercharged BMW Z4 3.0 does about that. Is this figure likely to rise once it's run in? The car has only done 600 miles now and still feels quite tight, although does feel a bit quicker than when we first picked it up.

She also wants to get a CD Autochanger. Is it best to stick with the Alfa one or go for a thrid party changer, Sony etc ??

Thanks again for all your advise, she's over the moon.

Hi Jamieboy,

That's what we thought. Although she did get upto 32mpg but that was 160 miles on the motorway with the cruise control on a 75mph... surely this should be nearer 38/40mpg? When getting 26mpg she's not even in traffic....

Quite poor would you not agree? I get around 36mpg at 80mph in my 370bhp Z4.... crazy..

Still it brings a smile to her face regardless

Yeah but that engine sounds terrible...... such a shame. But even then some people are just petrol heads and not diesel heads.
