Silly me. Perhaps I was thinking that the english translation of Igor was Edward..............

But then again I am probably wrong. Did, or does, Michael Palin live near Swindon at the end of the 1980s? If so it was definitely him.

Here are a few more that may have been forgotten in the obscure list of classic owners.

Kate Moss Silver Shadow MkII
Jodie Kidd Maserati
Kate Price Bentley Azure & Porsche
Chris Barrie Rolls Royce 20/25 and a few Jaguars
Paul McCartney Rolls Royce, Corvette and Hispano Suiza (which he regularly uses and keeps in the UK)
Garry Mavers Various Classic 60s Mercedes
Roger Daltry a number of Rolls Royce & Bentley and a VW camper van.
Allan Titchmarsh Vintage Bentley Bentley Arnage and Austin A35
Jonathan Ross Morgan Austin Healey Isetta Bubble car!
Vijay Mallya has an extensive public and private collection including Ferrari Pearce Arrow Rolls Royce & Jaguar
Michael Winner Rolls Royce Phantom VI Corniche convertible and Bentley T1
Alan Sugar S1 Bentley
Louis Walsh Bentley Mk6 (in Dublin)
Ken Morley Rolls Royce and a few Americans

The interesting thing is that they are all very knowledgeable classic car enthusiasts rather than cheque book collectors who get there hands dirty playing with and using there cars on a very regular basis.

I understand yet have never seen the vehicles that :
Terry Waite has an MG, Bob Geldoff a Bristol, Ian Duncan Smith Morgan,Elle Macpherson Aston Martin DB5 Convertible, Beckham 1989 Aston Volante.

Peter Grants (Led Zeppelin) collection included Mercedes 6.9 AMG 1979 with LZ1 as the reg,Vintage Bentley, Black 911 Turbo and a blue Mini Moke! (god knows how he got in it!) and Rolls Royce Phantom III with reg KUM 1 (ex James Roberson Justice)

Someone was revealed on the tellybox recently, but I can't remember who it was....

Whoever it was, it was a surprise....never would have thought he'd be into nice cars.

And to add a few more musicians to the list

Steve Winwood
Liam Howlett
Keith Flint
maxim
wyclef jean
Iggy Pop
Steve O'Rourke

and of course the much photographed Tony Smith . . . . . . . manager of Genesis and owner of possibly the most spotted Mc F1 in England

Robbie Fowler
Ian Rush

We could also add pretty much every F1 driver and most of the people they work with (although must would only be known within motor racing circles)

..... I seem to remember seeing a 105 Alfa Spider which had been owned by Robbie Coltrane.......
me too, it was a Duetto for sale nr Cambridge - it looked a tight fit for him.
Neil Primrose (Travis)races some very nice old sportscars.
The TV chef whose name I can't remember who entered the mille miglia and made a tv program about which showed him to be an enthusiast/chump depending on your opinion.
Jay Leno is well known as a car nut.
Jay Kay also has several including a very smart 50's Maserati.
Ralph Lauren has a spectacular collection.
The late Alan Clark MP.
The late Alan Clark MP...now there was a car nut.

In hospital shortly before his death he cried at the prospect of never seeing his cars again. (Didn't cry over not seeing his wife or family mind, just his cars.)

He also let his Rottweilers sleep on the bonnet of his C-type I believe. And kept a 2CV in the living room of his dad's cottage rather than let it winter outside.

While working hard at a certain auction house I witnessed the hand over of a Mk2 Jag to Robbie Coltrane who was on the large side at the time. Have you ever seen how close a Mk2 steering wheel is to the driver? Twas a snug fit. IIRC the car expired before it reached the M25.

I think we also sold a few cars for Chris Barrie - a Fiat Dino Coupé springs to mind, he had a few classics.

Martin Clunes is a VW camper owner, so I guess he qualifies. Menzies Campbell sold his XJS as part of a shallow stunt to win green publicity, as it failed I hope he bought another one.

Sean Conery , what has/what does he own now ? Think he was into BMWs ?

I once owned a Red TR6 that had belonged to Led Zeppelin .

Saw Sean Connery drive into Casino Square in Monte Carlo about 10 years ago in a Mercedes 300SL (the sister to the Gull wing Merc era car). You could hear knicker elastic snapping up to 1/4 mile away.

Hmm. News is he's negotiating to buy a 250GTO and is relinquishing his recently acquired California Spyder and his 250SWB to acquire it. He must really have loved that Spyder
