Good Friday. Auto Trader.

BMW or MB, over twenty years old and under £1,000 - something interesting to do over Easter, I only had plans for Sun so I needed something interesting to do over Fri, Sat and Mon ..



How could I resist? It seemed like a challenge with no MOT - so I jumped in the car with my cousin and headed to Croydon.

I met the seller, his story didn't quite add up but I wasn't really listening - lots and lots of paperwork and he got the 8 and the 6 the wrong way around when he wrote the mileage on Auto Trader. I took it for a spin and as I heard my cousin murmur "can't believe you're doing this", I shook the seller's hand and handed over the cost of a good night out ...

Awesome - love it. I did something similar and ended up with an '81 500 SEL now affectionately known as The Dictator.

So what exactly have you had to do?

Love it - nutria brown? The early ones without sacco stuff look pretty retro these days.

Looks like you've got the usual 190 peeling-doorcard issues (not sure anyone ever found a good cure for those), but otherwise pretty clean.

Looks good! Interior looks a bit saggy, but generally very smart.

I love these, its sort of the dictionary definition of a car, four seats, wheels, steering wheel and little else to distract, they look so much better in earthy colours like this and un adorned in any way, I make a small exception for the official factory fast ones

Nice cars. Someone in my parents street has a black one since new, still looks immaculate.

Caught a quick glimpse of a 190 Cosworth in the village yesterday, haven't seen one in years!
