i stumbled across this video a month or so ago when i saw this elise for sale on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2467548572&category=43114

the vid is at (warning to 56ker's its 99mb!)

www.qcars.uk.com/thefasta.mpg

I thought the 2 cars where driven well and the attitude of the plod was disgracful. These two muppets are clearly out for the glory of taking down 2 sports cars.

notice the class quotes from the bib such as

"how old can he be"
"don't worry were get one of em"

Just read the ebay ad (downloading the clip as we speak, will comment on that later) And i was suprised to see "The car has a flat battery" ...If you are selling a 20k? sports car you would think you could atleast charge the bloody battery!

Nice car though

Bloody 'ell crime must be light in E london if thats all they can find, ffs . Then again took the fezza too long to recognise a plod following though, probably plain V6 Omega by the sound of the engine note .

btw got a trojan warning whilst downloading, don't know if it was coincidence or not but easily cleared.

Agreed.

They didn't appear to be too reckless to me either.

What is the law with 'racing' (not that these guys were racing) I thought that there was some kind of rule that said if you could only pull one car that was racing it had to be the car behind or something?

It could have been the car in front, or am I talking crap?

I don't think they were doing anything stupid imho.

If it had been anything other than sports car they wouldn't have even been followed.

I don't think I saw the recorded speed go above 80mph (Not sure it even reached that)

Jealousy is a terrible thing.

(I think I may have spotted the unmarked following me quite quickly though)

They are drivin too fast.
It does not matter if they do not crash.
If they do not want get caught do not drive fast infront of police car!

They didn't seem to be driving recklessly...

I'll have to watch the vid more closely.

Having looked a video, well they broke the speed limit but didn't get caught by the speed cameras!!

Driving wasn't dangerous (apart from going through a red light). Haven't listened to commentary yet - do that tonight!!

Tonyrec - what do you make of it (if you have seen vid)? You comments would, I'm sure, be appreciated (if the bambino allows!)!

Cops are following in an unmarked car and yet they seem to go through a red light, overtake on a gate in the road, drive past an RTA and dont radio it in straight away. Their driving is erratic to say the least

if i had been hurt in that RTA and saw this vid i would have made sure these monkeys lost their jobs

That kind of comment is uninformed, unhelpful and uncalled-for.

Anyway - good bit of video that.. I love corporate intenet links.. downloaded in 45 seconds

They weren't driving dangerously IMO. The Fezza went thru as the amber turned to red - technically in infringement yes, but given how late the unmarked went through, it can't actually have been dangerous.

The way plod was cursing when the to cars first pulled away though, makes me wonder if he thinks a V6 Omega is the fastest car in the world.

Still, there's a game to be played out there and part of it is spotting unmarked plods. We all know the risks.

I don't think plod managed to get a decent speed reading from his vascar, so presumably other than checking documents etc were all in order, I can't see how he could have done anything more than written the Fezza up for the red light incident.

Oh, no! We have another member of the public who is convinced that they can make sure a BiB will lose his/her job! If I had a pound for every time a numpty advised me that "they'd have my job" I would indeed no longer be in the Police Service, by virtue of having retired on the fortune I'd have amassed!

The bloke got 18 months ban for that? Seems strange to have such a harsh ban for, admittedly stupid, fast driving! Still, like Carzee says - we know the risks and the chances are actually pretty low in reality.

However, the thing that bothers me is that I frequently see much worse driving, far more stupid driving and utterly reckless morons on our roads frequently - do they get caught - do they heck.... shame....

I can't believe it was for that alone* - maybe he already had 9 points and the judge took a dim view at totting-up time.. maybe he had a smart-arsed lawyer who just made things worse for him.. lots we don't know about it..

Perhaps the vendor could be persuaded to join the thread and add some more detail.

* if it was for that alone, then there but for the grace of God goes every PHer who ever went out for a drive with another fast car

Perhaps I'm going to get flamed for this but I live in the area this was filmed in and have driven around far more quickly than they were.

It's an example of appalling limit imposition for the most part - the start and ends of the film are both dual carriageways with 40mph limits. Dual carriageway?! Non-residential area, first one's street lit and the latter one's got great visibility.

Have to say the Fezza driver should be shot for his rearward observation... if I'd have seen anything non-descript (apologies to Omega drivers) keeping up with me while I was driving like that...

Didn't think that the drivers went OTT - just enjoying the acceleration of their cars a bit! 18 month ban story might be just that.

Video would have made me think twice about buying the Lotus though, even if I wanted one as tarted up as that. There was too much smoke when he floored it - burning a bit of oil I'd say.
