Just got back from a great run around mid Wales so the car is now bug splattered.

Initial impressions:

The grip is unbelievable. I cant get over how much speed you can carry through corners. Points on my run where I would have been braking hard in my old S1 I can just turn in and it deals with it with no fuss at all.

The gearbox is a real pleasure to use after the S1 (and mine had the upraded gear linkage kit on it). The shifts are smooth and precise.

Love the Toyota engine. As I'm still running in I've only been above 4-5000 revs a couple of times but even at low revs it still pulls cleanly and has enough power to make driving interesting.

Reversing is fine. I was a bit apprehensive about the lack of rear visibility but it hasnt been a problem. Coming home from Essex yesterday I was stuck in traffic for ages and the lots of lane changes were fine. The park assist helps as well.

The ITG induction system sounds great. The car only has the standard exhaust on it but with the ITG is sounds good from inside. I will probably have the Stage 1 exhaust fitted at the first service. I was considering the Stage 2 but with the ITG I think it will be too loud and I will struggle to get onto a lot of tracks.

Just over 500 miles on the clock now and another 150 ish to go on it tomorrow.

So far I absolutely love it and I'm sure it will be even better when its run in and I can spend more time 'on cam'.

Looks cool... Would really appreciate some thoughts on performance once it's run in - looks as though you're going to be on the cam way before me!

Davey,

Saw your car on saturdat at Castle Combe, looks awesome mate, sounds like you are going to enjoy the summer months with the new beast. Keep us posted how the running in goes and how she is shaping up, am considering the exige S2 myself, so the more info the better.

Cheers guys.

It is awesome.

The thing I like about it most so far is that underneath it all it is still similar to my S1. Not in performance, handling or build quality (which are all in another league) but somehow you know its essentially the same car if that makes any sense.

It feels like a natural progression from the S1. I loved my Elise but it had its shortcomings. The Exige feels like an S1 which has spent a year at the gym, not drinking and eating healthily whilst taking anger management classes. But you still know its a psycho and if you spill its pint chances are it will glass you. Its everything I wish my S1 had been.

Its now on just under 600 miles which is quite good going when you consider I drove it out of the showroom at 12.30 yesterday afternoon with 70 miles on the clock Good job my insurance policy is unlimited mileage.

Jimbo you must have stayed late because I didnt get there until about 4.30. All the boys liked it but I got the pi$$ taken out of me when some bloke drove past in an identical car.

Back at Combe tomorrow to watch the racing. (Porsche & Ferrari boys if anyone is at a loose end)

Davey, glad you're enjoying it! Can you hear the ITG system from in the car? I was thinking of getting one and the Stage 1 exhaust too?

Happy Motoring..

Also why do they leave the original seat belts in, is it a legal requirement, I'd want them out..?

No, but harnesses can be a real pain on the road. Take too long to get into, require adjustment if you share the car with someone with different seating position, and stop you seeing out of junctions properly.

Share your car??

Why on earth would you want to do that?!

Nice motor Dave!

I think I meant to say sharing is a very good thing - especially cars.

...er any chance of a 'go' later?

Just been having a sniff over DreamMachine's S2 Exige demo car which has a Pipercross and Stg.2 can (fecking loud in their service bay with doors closed!).

Test drive will probably be booked when I hear more from the insurers (hopefully this week).

Unsure as to where to go next really so decided to try one of these, an S1 Sport 160, a 111s and a 135R.

They are well, well sexy and it was tempting jut to say "sod it" today and just buy the bl--dy thing ...

Bob the ITG is fantastic. The car sounds great even with the standard exhaust on it, most of which is due to the ITG.

I still think it needs a bit more volume though so will probably have the Stage 1 fitted at the first service.

Stage 2 sounds awesome but it would stop me from getting on a lot of tracks and as I have the Performance Pack I intend doing a few trackdays with it.

Hi Guy's

Yep saw it in the flesh on Saturday Morning at Wilson's, didn't think I'd say this but I really loved the colour. (Normally go for brighter colours) Dave spoke to Mrs Boggy in the afternoon, were going to have to seriously into buying an Exige sometime next year, as soon as the next house purchase is finished Exige is a must top choice. Fell totally in love with your car mate good to meet you & your Dad.
