this thread has been cursed. anyone replying that such a record would be irresponsible or dangerous will suffer impotence for the rest of there uninteresting lives.

so is there a generally accepted record?

An hour... that would be some going seen as the M25 is 118 miles long... I'd say you'd be looking at about 1 1/2 hours min that would be an average of about 79mph... which these days would be pretty good going.

Well, about 15 years ago when my sister got a porsche, we went for a midnight spin along the M25 at speed........

Saying that, one night 5/6 years ago I got from Oxfordshire to Essex travelling at 90 the entire journey on the M25...

One of the bike mags (performance bike / superbike or something) did a lap record thing on the M25 in the last month or so.

Might even have done a 24hr race around it a la Le Mans...

No idea how they dodged the police etc etc.

Sure somebody on here will have read the article or have the mag to hand (very recent).

It was my old car driven by Tony Dron with Chris Schirle in the passenger seat . The BiB did intervene when to quote Chris " We were well ahead of the time " but they didn't finish .

It was PB and they ran a ZX12R against that new BM thingy. BM did an extra lap over 24hrs due to better fuel consumption. I'll dig out the article and post their best time.

I recall hearing that the record time had been reduced to just under an hour, but that was many years ago. Might well have been bettered since then.

As an aside, I thought that it was 125 miles around the M25, though maybe that depends on clockwise or anti-clockwise? Either way, given the stop at Dartford, less than an hour is pretty good going!

Not sure about the M25 but there's a video of a guy who does the whole peripherique (can't be bothered to look up the spelling) around Paris on a motorbike in 11 mins 35 seconds.

REALLY scary stuff!

I'd have thought the logical thing to do would be to use the toll booths as the timing point?

If you're as old as me you will remember when it first opened in the pre scamera days. Typical "fast pace" in those days was just over the hour cruising at around the 120 mark.
