While your there supercharge would you old man?

Nitrous? It'd be like making the jump to hyperspace in the millenium falcon.

Hronk. Good work.

I can only imagine how much nitrous and petrol that'd use at full throttle!!

Won't cooling be a bit of a problem?

ha ha crazy...

Do you think there's ever a point with people like Charlie where they step back and think 'Nah, maybe that's an idea too far...' or do you reckon that part of their brains is just missing?

If it is, I'm glad, the world is so much better for people like him!

This sounds untterly mental. Can't wait to see it in action.

Excellent, what a project

It started off as a very low key project, but you only do it once, so why spoil the ship for a ha'porth of tar? Absolutely no promises whatsoever (it'll depend on the build schedule and trailer costs etc), but I'll see about getting it to PistonFest.

Yes, he is mental.

Sounds great,I trust you are aiming for 1002bhp,[for obvious Veyron reasons]...

Regards Mark.

That crossed my mind last night watching TG. Ok, so we won't have that supple hide to sit on, or the gizmo's, but it will have only cost 10k or so. And it'll be British dammit.

Only 1000 bhp? Tsssk, how so verrry 2005.

Fuelling shouldn`t be a prob with the hi tech injection system and a good programmable ignition/fuel map......What blowers normally use 27 litre engines...tanks?

We're looking for 2 'normal' or low pressure types.. each capable of 500 horse and just to smooth things out really, and get a decent pick up through the rev range.

Would you cast or modify the manifolds..?

Charlie made them himself. They're fine as it is, they're built to take pressure and because its slow revving, the gas is going to flow really slowly anyway. We might have to fettle the stub, but that should be it. The cold air will have to come from inlets at the top of the bonnet, with ally boxes, because the temp under there is going to be roasting.

An absolute corker of a thread, an epic project!

I see there is a Merlin on eBay at the moment. I'm sorely tempted to buy it, rebuild it, mount it on a plinth and run it every so often just for the sound

The quality of the graphics is none too hot (.. sorry, don't get these computer things), but it still sounds ok I guess. This was shot last weekend, when we took it out and test ran it on propane prior to final mapping. The sound quality doesn't do it justice, it's as much a pressure thing, as it is sheer volume. Perhaps we should have taken the headers off?

Charlie has designed his own manifolds, the old one's contracted too quickly afterwards and sheered their bolts. The noise the engine makes after even the shortest of runs has to be heard to be believed. Its getting a Lifeline Fire System in this month, a decent battery from Powervamp and work is starting on the twin 5' exhausts sticking out the side. Carbon Fibre would be good, but wouldn't be able to take the heat, unless anyone can advise differently? Twin turbo's are inbound but the Nitrous set up has got no further.

It'll be on the mag stand at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, when it'll be run up, so come along and say hello. There should be a better quality video going onto PHTV soon, but hey, why wait?

Cheers,

Al.
