No still the same stuff:

1996 Fiat Coupe 16v turbo

1998 MGF

1990 Peugeot 205 1.6 auto

When I get round to finishing my cottage; I will be in touch with Joe 90.

£22k for the Carver; when you can get a decent Robin for £800! The Robin has 2 seats and room for Rover V8!

Like the AS One; the Carver is just another unwanted import!

very interesting, but probably an evolutionanry deadend. Shame, 'cos we need some originality, and this has it in spades. Too pricey though, my VX is only 5 grand more, and a lot hotter...

This is brilliant!

I've just started working with one of the suppliers to Carver, specifically for the interior. I wanted to find out more about it so put "carver vehicle" into Google and what should be the first link? A Pistonheads thread from 3 years ago!

Spoke to the laid back Dutch dude at MPH. The Carver looks awesome, and I reckon it would be a cracking toyif you had the cash lying around

Surely if you want this kind of thing; a 2nd hand Reliant Robin would be better. As for the Carver it is a waste of time!

I own both and you're talking crap, sir.

In the Shoot Out (2003 I think) DVD Clarkson puts 30 cars to the test with the aim of "...finding the car of the year that puts the biggest smile on my face.....its all about excitement.."

Among those he tested was the Evo VIII, T350C, Elise, Vx220 Turbo, Zonda and Koenigsecc. The Carver won on the basis that driving it was closer to flying an F15 than anything without wings and was the most exciting of the bunch to drive. Comparison with a Robin is ludicrous.

If I had the beer-tokens, I would get one tomorrow. If there was enough change left over, it would share a garage with an Ariel Atom as well - both cars about as 'Pistonhead' as you can get...

I'm really looking forward to mine arriving. Scheduled for November. Gone for the Stealth black inside and out.

Just wish it was only £22k. Basic model starts at £27 and zooms up quickly from there once you add a few bits.

Did you get the black alloys too? I was speccing my imaginary one up the other day and couldn't decide between a luminous orange, or stealth black

Where are the doors?

Chatted to the sales guys at goodwood and got a good look at the one they had there.

Door is on left side only you will notice.

Talking to the chaps their test driver is very well aquainted with the beast now, so much so that he is capable of drifting it on a circuit. Not for the newbie though!

Think they're great - but it's a pricey toy really rather than a particularly practical solution to anything!

I went for the black alloys as well. The only downside so far is that the majority of orders are for the Stealth black over any other colour.

I did 2 test drives and on the last roundabout on the 2nd drive, I got the back to drift. Unintentionally, though I might add. It doesn't take too long to become comfortable with it (I ride bikes as well, so perhaps that helps with the overall aclimatisation).

Well, after a long delay, my Carver is in the UK. Arrived on Thursday and just waiting for DVLA to get on the ball and send back the registration papers.

Unfortunately, due to the weakness of the £ to the € the price has increased quite a bit. However, mine is being supplied at the invoice price as per my order of June 2006 so very happy with that. I hope that there isn't a price increase on my series 4 Morgan Aero when I get it next year. Mind you it may help with the sale price of my series 3.

Once I get out on the road with the Carver I'll post some feedback here.

Phantom, those 2007 registered cars are ones that have slowly come through and people are selling them on for whatever reason. There 'allegedly' was a dispute between prodrive and the factory in Germany building them and production was halted for several months around the time that chassis no.50 was produced (mine is 71), then there was a technical hitch/recall on the first 50 so that delayed things. all the preceding is relayed as information I was given so cannot confirm it as fact. What is a fact is mine arrived here on Thursday and now awaiting the registration confirmation, tax disc etc so I can collect it and start driving!

There are plenty of vehicles that if you want your own spec you may have to wait 6 months to 2 years or more but could get an alternative right now.

I bet you were chomping at the bit for all this time!

I understand 100% that you have to wait for your own spec. I am just genuinely not sure I am the kind of guy who would ever wait 2 years. Kudos to you for knowing what you want and going for it, mate.

Me? I get itchy if I have to wait 2 weeks. smile

Make sure you take some pictures to taunt those further down the list with. wink
