I'm having a test in one of these on Saturday as I'm going to need 4 doors sooner or later (actually, it's more sooner than later).

I gather that a few here present have a ZT190 -- so, a couple of months down the line, what are they like? Not just performance-wise but fit+finish, hardiness, general reliability?

Don't worry, the cerb'll not be going...

We have a ZT190 as our family car. Quality is very good - a legacy of the B*W ownership I suspect. Just make sure you get the (now optional) sport suspension.

Or wait until the motorshow for news of the V8s.

Look at what other car maufacturers were putting out when MG made the "B"; Alfa spider, Sunbeam Alpine, Triumph GT6 or TR (4/6) all in similar price range, every aspect of the engineering of all those were streets ahead

No need to name every aspect 'Incorrigable' just enlighten me with a few where, in real terms, they were streets ahead.

THE REVIEW OF THE ZT REALLY IS A BIT INFANTILE. I'VE GOT A 75, BUT NO FLAT CAP. IT IS QUIETER AND HAS MORE INTERIOR SPACE THAN AN S TYPE - & MOST OF THE 3 SERIES BMWS FEEL POSITIVELY CRUDE, FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF A PASSENGER, COMPARED TO THE 75.

THE FAMILY PREFER IT TO OUR PREVIOUS BMW 530 AND XJ - AND THEY WOULD REFUSE POINT BLANK TO GET IN ANYTHING THAT LOOKED AS FLASH & TASTELESS AS A SUBARU.

LAST WEEK WE TOOK SOME FRIENDS OUT TO A RESTAURANT IN THE 75 BECAUSE THEIR 2 YEAR OLD CERBERA WAS OUT OF ACTION - AND WAS IN THE GARAGE HAVING BODY PANELS REMOVED TO CHANGE THE BATTERY!

WHAT IS THE POINT OF 360BHP, IF IT DOESN'T WORK? THE 75 HASN'T MISSED A BEAT SINCE WE TOOK DELIVERY OVER TWO YEARS AGO.

IT COULD DO WITH 3+ LITRE ENGINE, RATHER THAN THE 2.5 - THAT'S WHY I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO GET A TEST DRIVE OF THE XPOWER ZT, BECAUSE, IF IT IS WELL ENGINEERED AS THE 75 AND THE NEW MGS, IT WILL BE A VERY GOOD CAR - AND IT WILL BE MY FIRST CHOICE TO REPLACE THE ROVER.

FOR THE RECORD, MY 'OTHER' CAR IS 420 BHP 6.5 LITRE V12 XJS - WHICH IS GREAT FUN, WILL DO THE THICK END OF 170, SPIN THE REAR WHEELS AT 110, BUT ISN'T IN THE SAME LEAGUE AS THE 75, WHEN IT COMES TO RELAXED, LONG DISTANCE, MOTORING.

Are your eyes sited different to the rest of us or do you drop your Hs?

EYESITE (sic)

Question...Works Rovers have lead an International race at the Ring by a margin of minutes and won their class at Le Mans, when have TVR done the same?

Answer...still waiting.

Moving to Renault to get away from poor quality cars?

Didn't What Car run a warenty claims survey a while back? IICR MG-R came behind BMW/Subaru with two more claims per hundered cars, supposedly pulled down by the 800. Also significantly behind Audi and ahead of VW. If only everything in life was as reliable as a Rover.
