I'm guessing it's regarding how they're able to apply the brakes simply by pushing down on the foot well?

That's the one. On about 8 different models...which people have written in to watchdog about. So probably all of them.

It's just sloppy design allowing the passenger access to the lever under there.

This is news? It's something inherent in most smaller cars (with cramped engine bays) designed as LHD which get re-engineered for RHD. Brake master cylinder still lives on the left, a linkage goes from the brake pedal to it.

I understand that the vast majority of LHD to RHD conversions are carried out in the same way.. Just a bit unfortunate for Peugeot-Citroen that whatever they used to cover the bar up turned out to be made of cheese..

Many small cars use similar mechanisms. Pretty poor show not packaging out of harms way though.

They can't be bothered to design right-hand-drive wipers so why would they bother with the pedals? Lazy communists

This is from last week.

Ultimately, it all started with my brothers company car, Picasso VTR+ which they had in the studio last week and filmed a lot of.

I'm guessing he won't be on Citroens christmas card list hehe

Don't press your feet hard into the footwell would be my advice to those complaining.

The news isn't about a common engineering solution, the news is that this hasn't been packaged in such a way that nobody aside from the driver can press the brake pedal.

Wonderful words of wisdom there, assuming of course you know about the problem first.

Considering the driving standard of the average people carrier, i doubt this is a significant safety issue, in fact, it might actually improve safety, as the drivers don't seem to bother looking where they are going, and now the passenger can help a bit........ ;-)

Why would people push their feet hard into the footwell? The only thing I can think of would be that they're the sort who are terrible passengers and like to "pretend" that they're pressing a brake pedal when they get panicky. You'd think they'd appreciate this sort of feature, wouldn't you?

I've done it having a big stretch on a long motorway journey.
