Hi,

I'm in the process if wiring in a new labgear distribution system, but I'm having a nightmare with it!

First the instructions are rubbish, but it's also not working.

I've wired it as per the instructions and also as per a ph's advice and neither work.

The plan is for the sky+hd itb box to supply 3 TVs in different rooms via sat cable digital tv and sky with magic eye functions.
So far I've wired it as such:
Lnb 1 and lnb2 into the sky box direct,
Aerial into the 681
Rf2 output from the sky box into the uplink on the 681
Downlink from the 681 into aerial in on sky box.
TVs all from tv outs on the 681

Problem is I've got no 9v supply from any if the outfeeds from the 681 (rf2 turned on and 9v at the back of the box) but none of the magic eyes work. I've got a perfect digital signal but either no or extremely poor sky signal when I try to tube the tv to it as an analogue signal (switch on 681 is set to CCTV) the little blue lnb power light doesn't come on either on the 681?

Am I doing something wrong or is the 681 faulty?

I've tried switching the 9v feed on and off, and also same with sky box, but no joy!

Help needed as wife abd kids are getting narky!

Firstly plug an eye directly into the sky rf2 to confirm that is working

Then add the uplink feed and test again,

Then add the amp and try again on each of the outputs

Then add the drops to the rooms one at a time and test again.

Is the amp power via the sky box or on it's own psu?

I suspect that you have a short between the braid and the centre conductor, cause a loss of 9v early in the system.

Hi,

Thanks for the help. I've tried the options you mention, and still no joy soi tried a philex 4 way distribution system instead.

Wired as follows:

Rf2out to booster in
Out feed from booster to all tv's.

Now I've got sky and digital on all tv's but not remote eye controllers are working. I've tested the remote eye at the box and at the booster, red lights are on and they work when connected by a small flylead to the booster. But when installed back at the second tv the light is on and the eye flashes when you try the sky control, but nothing happens!

Which side of the amp are you testing, input side or output?

Also are you using faceplates at the 2nd, if yes could you try with out. Some time these filter out power and or the ir signal

Hi vex,

I took all the faceplates out in case they were not the correct shielded bypss type. Hardwired the cable direct instead.

I have tested it using a small fly lead out of the back of the sky box, and it's fine, but when through the output of the amp the lights still come on but the ir doesn't seem to be returning through the amp back to the sky box?

If I plug the feed to 1 tv directly into the rf2 out feed it's fine.

I know this implies the amp is faulty, but it's the second amp / splurged I've bought in two days, I can't believe they are both faulty!

Ok, can you test the cable that goes up from the sky box to the amp.

If the sky box is ok and the amp is providing power (hence the red light) but if the ir is not passing the there is a fault between the amp and the sky box.

Welcome to my world of fault finding!
