Is it possible to buy a normal c2 or c4 and then making it into a s?

I see the very high premium of s models, but is there a credible way to achieve it as a mod?

Thanks

O right yeh, sorry.

I was just giving a hypothetical. So its more than just a body kit?

It is possible of course, but with the work involved, it would surely prove to be more expensive than buying a proper one in the first place.

Oh, and it wouldnt be an 'S' either, just a rep.

MTR

Edit - Er no, its not a body kit.

Crikey that gmund car is rank!

Anyway, the turbo body isn't much more than wider wings, different bumpers & sideskirts isn't it? Not much of a job for someone in the trade? You'll need the different offset wheels as well but I understood that was all-the suspensions the same but don't quote me on that I may be wrong!

Have a look at the speedster build thread on 911uk. That guy took a cabrio & made it turbo bodied.

Another thing is to have a look at a wide body car in the flesh. They look great, but in my humble a narrow body is curvy enough-the difference isn't as marked as previous 911's & from directly behind a 993 turbo body looks stretched out & exacerated.

+ I can't think of any one situation where a widebody would be any better to drive?

Forget it.

Buy a C2, drive it, keep it.

If you buy a narrow bodied 993 and attempt to change it into a wide bodied car you will end up with something that drives worse than the former and is worth less than both.

Well it is an open forum so I differ here. A 993 S looks the business and well worth the premium for me.

Given there is nothing in the drive between an S and a narrow body the price difference has to be down to people thinking the same, plus the fact there are less of them.

I'm not particularly worried about residuals, it is going to be a long term keeper.

But if it will drive worse and be a pig to put together it might not be worth it. Slightly wary as the targa isn't the most rigid body to start with, and messing about with the width might create problems.

There is a quite a big difference IMO. (Just my own experiences so everyone is entitled to disagree.)

You'll just end up with a Frankenstein car that has cost as much, if not more, than a real S. Why would anyone even contemplate that? You say it would be a "keeper", but circumstances change and you may need to sell it one day - that's when the awful truth will hit you - you will find it difficult to sell and probably at a price close to a cat D equivalent. shout DON'T DO IT

As above, they don't make the targa in wide frown

I have a 993 c2s and as much as i like it, the fat arse backside etc...

The driving exprience of the vanilla narrow c2 is more tactile, more subtle, more porsche.

You can of course make any 993 into a widebody – but by the end you’ll get too know and need to be on very good terms with the parts man at your local OPC, and take a serious dent in your finances!
Whatever floats your boat – I had a particular mission when I did mine!

Take one 993 Cab

Strip it

Take off the outer panels

Fit some new quarters & cills etc

Bit more welding

Acid dip for good measure

Give it a wash

E-Coat to make good for next 20 years

Prime it

Seal it

Undercoat it

Paint it

Build it

Enjoy it!

Graham,
Well done mate, that really looks the business.

As a matter of interest, are they genuine Porsche Fuchs wheels or some other brand ? I think they look great but don't know if they'd fit a narrow body 993 like mine.

They're the 19" Porsche wheel as per the 2011 Speedster and Sport Classic. They go straight onto a widebody without mods but not a narrow body.
