I received my Rip Shifter today and it looks a very well made piece of kit.....(£275 inc all tax etc.) There is a possible saving on a group purchase!!!

I will post a report over the weekend when it is fitted but from the reports so far in Australia it total eliminates the poor gear shift on the T56 box.

I have also order up a polished Stainless cat back exhaust for one of my other company directors who has bought a black Monaro which is due to
arrive in the next week or so along with a new MAF pipe and a new PCM. (good for about 380hp at about £1000)

Mine and "Jagsy" MAF conversion have proved very worth while and I would say it is a must have for all GTS and Monaro owners. (£100)

The new gear shift is in and WOW what a difference.

The gear change is precise and smooth with the throw about 2 inch shorter front to back and very tight left to right.

The change from 2nd to 3rd is ultra fast........... this is a must have upgrade!!

The fitting is a bit of a pain but I did it in about 4 hours with no special tools.

The finished unit looks totally stock reusing the gear knob and gaiter, but without the rattle!!!

I have driven cars with the HSV short shifter and the "Capa" unit and this one is 100% better and it costs less.......

The Monaro gear change - not too good, is it. Vague gear selection, and a very long throw. No flicking it through the gears with you fingertips either - you have to grab hold of it hard and almost shove it in each gear! I completely cocked up a gearchange whilst giving it some the other day , due to the vague selection. It feels like the syncro is taking some time to wind up before it will let you change. May be it will improve as the car is run in.

UK HSV - I'm interested in a short shift kit. I didn't realise there are different makes - HSV / Capa. Can you post a link to the Rip Shifter?

If discount is on the cards we need to co-ordinate the purchase.

Is this the same product as a US Ripper Shifter? Or, a different brand all together?

The shifter is an Australian product with a similar name to the American unit.

Hey Guys
The RIP shifter is great but you will experience a little more road noise because you delete a rubber boot that fits to the standard shifter, also you will get some more vibrations from the after market RIP shift. Other than that the shift patten is good.

HSV1 that is one great looking estate car you have there. I may have to sell my HSV as the company Mondeo Estate is on it's last legs, and buy a car that will do both jobs. The only options I can think of that would do such a job (i.e. quick, handles, comfy, rare fun and carry the Kitchen sink) is the Audi RS6 Avant but if I could find something like your car I'd probably go for it!If only someone would bring a few over.

The shifter I have put on retains all of the original seals and rubber boots so the noise inside the car is as normal....

As for vibration, there is some at high revves but this is only felt through the gear stick and not heard like a rattle....

"sjc" try this address from the links page on the web site www.api-uk.co.uk/ as he is looking to import the full
Holden, HSV range. to the UK.

The guy from API is coming to Billing on the Saturday if anyone wants to know about imports.........

UKHSV thanks for the link, although I can't seem to find enough info on their website. Can't do Billing as I'm on a stag weekend (again!).Might give them a call anyway. Drove a RS6 Avant today assuming it would solve my dilemma and it was.............ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.Compared with what I always look for in my cars (TVRs/HSV's)it had no character whatsoever.

I have been sent a email from GM Motorsport (who make the Rip Shifter) with the prices for the UK Owner Club...

1 off = $699 AUD (£265)
5 off = $550 AUD (£208)
10 off = $469 AUD (£178)

Shipping etc is about £20 each

"Jagsy" and Mrs "Jagsy" have used the shifter on my car and I am sure will give you a honest opinion

I can say, with hand on heart "Jagsy" new exhaust sounds excellent

It is not as loud as I was expecting and it has a very nice deep tone. It is about as loud as a TVR but with a nicer note.

There is no drone and sounds excellent under full power.

The exhaust change was well worth the effort for the sound only but it is sure to of helped power to.
