exhaust heat shield

can you please help me about getting a new exhaust heat shield in the engine bay,
the original is in fiberglass i believe but i remember seeing metal replacements also...my only concern is my car is LHD (1997 chimaera 4.0 lt ) i am not sure if its a different shaped one than the RHD ones...

I begged some 12 gauge alu from a supplier cut and rolled it until the shape was some what near and used the same fixings

On a similar topic has anyone "wrapped" their manifolds - if so did it help with engine bay heat and how many metres were required to do the job ?

I did mine in the titanium wrap and it took two rolls of 2" x 15' and I believe it does make a difference.

Plenty of debate on this subject. Wrapping the manifolds is a personal choice, but the heat must dissapate somewhere and by wrapping the manifolds it helps under bonnet temps but the heat is just transferred further down the exhaust system and the possible problems that may bring. Also wrapping tends to put extra stress on the manifold welds and has led to cracking in some cases.
As stated earlier its a personal choice and i have not wrapped my manifolds.

TJC46 is right, bit of debate on wrapping.

I've wrapped min as per pic above, i.e. as far as the pre-cat position. My pre-cats are long gone now and I'm just hoping that I've got the right balance i.e. won't creak, won't fry main cat, will reduce heat damage around the tight spots.

Time will tell

Luckily I have some spare manifolds so can experiment a little

I made my own from some commercial shelving then i could mount the coils packs via another bracket..


Got plenty spare if anyone lives close enough..
