Old one expired last month, new one purchased on-line, 20th of last month. Confirmation email received OK. Money taken from account, but no tax disc. DVLA tell me I have 5 days grace, and they are sending out a duplicate. (Did this on Tuesday)

Anyone else having issues? (No change in address or postman either)

(And I know if is VED, not tax smile)

My wife did the BMW on Wednesday and the tax disc arrived on Friday. I did the FRP on Thursday and no sign of it yet.

If it's not "tax", then why does the V11 reminder I have in my hand have the word "TAX" plastered all over it?

"Renewal reminder to get a tax disc"
"Tax the easy way"
"you must either : tax your vehicle"...

Royal Mail are crap at the best of times.

A Bank Holiday week gives them an additional excuse to be ste.

I'd give it till early next week before contacting DVLA.

I ordered three at once back in March but only two turned up (three vehicles) - the one missing is from my bike. I could never be arsed to call them up about it so my disc is currently 6 months out of date. Showing as taxed online though.

If you have paid, you should be ok and it wont get picked up on ANPR, if you get stopped you can be done for "failure to display" but,

Fromt he DVLA website,

"If you use the electronic vehicle licensing service or tax by post at the end of the month, there’s now an exemption for not displaying a tax disc. This exemption covers the first five working days of the month to allow time for the new disc to arrive in the post. While you are still waiting for your tax disc you will need to display your current tax disc. The exemption only applies if applications are made before the current tax disc or SORN expires"

I suspect if you get stopped and the car doesnt show as being untaxed it would take a pretty heartless copper to do you for failing to display if its clear you have paid, potentially up to £200 fine but I reckon thats very unlikely.

I do 2 cars and a bike, first time I have ever had an issue though... Duplicate requested, will be interesting to see if it turns up.

I recently posted in SP&L about someone I know who hasn't taxed their vehicle in 2 years, and still hasn't been caught. I think you'll be OK to drive around until you get a new disc.

I don't trust the tax on line scheme. The local sub-post office is only 2 miles away, I go there when mine is due and get it in my grubby mit from the frosty-faced bint behind the counter (never really forgave her for doing me out of a couple of quid years ago when taxing my Metro diesel) Just before the rate went up, I dropped her in it with the DVLA as she overcharged me. Immediately after coming back home I called them and they said she had got it wrong and they would be 'speaking to the Post Office branch in question' - a photocopy sent to DVLA got a refund and new disc by return. However, even though they were quick then, and my lad has just got his disc for his car almost by return, I still don't trust the postal service and do mine over the counter thanks.

Edited for spelling
