Frankfurt: Aston Martin V12 Zagato

Frankfurt provides clearest hint yet of the Anglo-Italian special's final look

Aston Martin's V12 Zagato will be on sale in final production guise by mid-2012, but this is the closest we've got yet to the final production guise of the car.

Although this car was actually one of the pair to race at the Nurburgring 24-hour race earlier this year, it's been 'de-racified' (and if that's not a word then perhaps it ought to be) to look more or less like the car that will be available from your Aston Martin showroom next year for £330k plus local taxes.

It doesn't yet have a production interior, however - it's still pure race car in there, apparently.

When it finally does hit the public road proper, the 150 V12 Zagatos Aston plans to build will be powered by a 510bhp, 420lb ft version of the firm's familiar 6.0-litre V12.

Is it me or are those first two photos (and a lot of the rest of the Frankfurt coverage) out of focus/blurry?

I never thought we'd see the day that Aston Martin made a car look so chavvy, it actually looks like a poor/ugly copy of a Nissan GTR from some angles. £330k,wow, the price of ugly is on the up! I'd take a GTR & a house over that. Oh, & what is with those hideous wheel?

Yep, they should have paid for GFW to go as well!

I love the front of it, just not so much the back.

The alloys are awful too.

I'd have mine in the green from the Zig race version.

Sorry, but it's ugly. It just is. It doesn't have the flair or elegance of the DB9 derived cars. I know that the DB9 design is getting on a bit now, and yes, they have flogged it to death with the Vantage, DBS, Virage all looking basically the same. I'm glad they're trying to do something different, but this just isn't the answer. It lacks... Class.

Can't help but think it looks like a Ginetta at the front. And at the rear, it doesnt even resemble an Aston.

It looks very much like an R35 GT-R from most angles except the rear 3/4 and the wheels are very siimilar to the Landrover Evoque Dynamic! Not for me.

Ugly overpriced bodykit. Not even put together in Italy. The Aston Zagato's will be put together in the UK.

How Zagato get away with this sort of tat, I'll never know. It's expensive rubbish.

Standard V12 Vantage is perfect.

330k + for a Zagato, that's not built or designed by Zagato. How is this?

A touch of Nissan 370Z on the rear quarter. Hard to miss.

I think that looks stunning, and MUCH better than a Nissan GTR!
