My Insignia is in for it's 100,000 mile service that includes changing the cambelt. Dropped the car off on Monday afternoon and it's still not ready. How long should it take?

It's a main Vauxhall dealer btw.

Did they have a cambelt kit in stock ready to fit? If so, it should be turned around within a day. As you dropped it in Monday afternoon I'd want it back Tuesday.

If they've taken your car in, and then decided to order in a cambelt kit to fit that's another story. Order it Monday afternoon, might have been left till last thing, so order isn't processed till Tuesday. Then two days for the kit to arrive at the dealer, takes you to today. Cue a phone call this afternoon to tell you your car is ready.

Don't know what engine you have, but it took less than 2 hours for me to change the cambelt, tensioner and waterpump on my 1.8 Astra.

The dealer is taking the piss!

It's the 2.0cdti. They did require "authorisation" from the lease company.

Had the timing belt, water pump and brake fluid changed on my Golf yesterday. Booked it in at noon and it was ready by 5pm. It was a last minute thing so they had to order the timing belt kit. Small indy though, not main dealer.

Now we know why. Its a lease car. Two problems. Firstly they will be looking for extra work to do to up the bill and secondly there is the issue of getting authorisation for said work from the lease company. Always an issue.
