Richard Burns announced his absence from rallying at the end of 2003 for health- related reasons and started a treatment to cure a brain tumour. The British driver is now out of the hospital and will continue his treatment from home.
"Richard has improved to the point where he's at home, whereas at the beginning of January, he'd lost a hell of a lot of weight," mentioned his co-driver Robert Reid. "He couldn't get out of bed for a while. I think the feeling of the people close to him at the moment is we are making progress, but that we've still got a fair way to go."
Richard received tremendous amount of support from his fans and the entire rally community. Everyone is hoping for his quick recovery and wishes to see him back in the World Rally Championship one day."

I was in the audience for that show and he was playing his cards fairly close to his chest. But then again having read Lance Armstrong's book about his fight against cancer it's not entirely surprising. Until that final diagnosis that the cancer is gone you really are fighting all the way, and then even then there's always the chance it can come back.
Fingers crossed that RB's treatment is going well. The treatment is incredibly debilitating and so it may well take a long time before they know whether it's been a complete success.
