Really can't wait for both of these car's now, main Issue for me is I have a strong feeling that I'll forget all about the Evora and opt for the Exige V6, not many slot's left to sell by all account's which is fabulous for Lotus anyone else thinking about putting down an order?

I can honestly see the new Elise SC doing well, these car's will really refresh the current range as well giving us guys more to discuss

May have to buy another carconfused

they fail to think about the reliability of a supercharger though. a rotrex c30-94 would last forever!

You've lost me there mate.

Bobo, it will still look like a toy, hopefully. True sports cars should be small and cosy.

the elise is there to be small and cosy. this should look and feel positively brutal imho.

without getting into a bun fight .... i'm hoping this one just looks a little more purposeful and has a little more presence. the new proportions seem to have the desired effect. but who knows, until you see one in situ in the street (so not under show lights) or take one for a spin its all conjecture i suppose.

I have seen and heard enough to put a deposit down, i'm hoping this time lotus live up to the expectations (and price tag!)... it will be a knock out if they do. fingers crossed.

By coincidence, I got a call this afternoon to say that all (80) of the early slots are now spoken for, and cars need to be specced next week to be sure of March. Anyone else heard the same?

Was also told that the Trofeo option tyres last about 1k miles, so don't think I'll be speccing those!

Interesting they have gone for a chargecooler on the new Elise, i think thats a good choice, the air to air coolers never seemded to work all that efficiently in the Exige, going on the stories posted here and elsewere

And i've heard it's got 180LBFT's of torque which is quite a jump over the outgoing S/C, even if the HP is the same, it will probably feel a fair bit quicker in normal driving

I really like the Exige V6, and the engine has plenty of room for further decent power hikes down the road, i really think lotus have a winner on there hands with the V6 Exige, shame they waited this long to do one!

sorry, bot where do you get this from?

that engine in std trim is pretty much at the limit's as it is, yes they might get a little bit more, but there's not 'plenty of room' as you put it.

sorry, isn't the limit also that gearbox? can it take another 100hp?

frankly if the stand spec is as claimed i cant see the need for more power....

There has been a mention of only an initial 80 cars for the UK. I wouldnt bet on this. Scaremongering so that the 80 cars are snapped up quickly. If they do sell them quickly then Lotus will make more. Marketing ploy imo

like they can afford NOT to make/sell cars.

They're not saying 80 is the limit, they are saying that there are 80slots in first build, and after they are full you won't get a car in UK til autumn.

The first 80 is also not just UK, and they had to get to 40 confirmed before pushing button on starting production.

Lotus have already got 440hp out of a supercharged version of this engine, how much work was needed i dont know, but personally i think there is enough headroom there for lotus to release a faster Cup version or somesuch down the line with a worthwhile powerhike over the current car

Even if they add another 40 to 50hp, in a relatively light car, that will be noticable, and a 390/400 hp version of the V6 Exige will be very fast indeed

I have no knowledge from a technical perspective of the limits of the engine but as you say I'd be pretty confident they've set the power output of the initial car so as to leave a little headroom from some kind of limited edition - this is Lotus after all!

some pointers.

which part of the engine is still standard at this point?
do you honestly think said 440Bhp engine (if it is actually 440?) cam meet *any* emission standards at all? (so zero use for a road car - why do you think every manufacture is dumping their high reving high performance engines?)
What do you think the cost of one of these engines would be over and above the std car?

Really, can we get some perspective here?
