Bar end mirrors do tidy up the front end and make the bike look sleeker, what are they like in the real world?

I’d assume they can make tight filtering (I live in London!) a bit more of any issue.

But more importantly, if you head out on an A road, are they actually of any use?

I replaced the mirrors on my old Speed Triple with just a single bar end mirror on the right hand side. In practice, it was better than the original mirrors and could be folded in when filtering. I did pay about $70 for it though, the one I had was a CRG Lanesplitter ordered from the US. Way better than most of the cheap st you see in bike shops. As long as you're comfortable riding with just the one mirror and don't forget your lifesavers, i'd go for it.

Looks pretty cool too.

I've noticed that most of the Duc Hypomotard riders around London have replaced the standard bar end mirrors for traditional ones.

Not tried it but bar end mirrors in London traffic just sounds like a bad idea

The psychological effect of seeing the mirrors hanging off the end of your handlebars is more detrimental than the actual additional width when filtering.

I was contemplating this for my Monster, but decided against it as I filter regularly and prefer being slimmer, not fatter smile

Got some oberon bar end mirrors on my bike. it came without mirrors and the flimsy c/f fairing did not look strong enough for normal mirrors which i was led to believe were st anyway. the bike is narrow so even with bar ends is fine for regular filtering - importantly they work well at speed and don't vibrate. after not having no mirrors and travelling briskly and having to turn round at speed - really pleased with them

Don't get the cheap ones, they didn't even last on my bike from London to Le Mans before they shook themselves to pieces, and that was on an inline 4!

Have a look at Halcyon mirrors. Not cheap but real quality items.

Just fitted Oberon mirrors to my monster (60mm streetfighters) replacing the original mickey mouse ear ones. The difference is amazing much better and more useful field of vision and little to no vibration.
With the oberons you have 2 mounting options so I have mine top mounted and only stick out maybe a half inch either side, but width isn't really an issue on an old monster.
Use a lot if Oberon stuff, great gear.

I keep on considering these for my Ducati 1098. The current ones don't work at all well but it seems to be just the street fighter brigade that fit them. Anyone tried them on a sports jobbie?

I've got official Triumph ones on my Speedy – they're great once you're used to them. They're actually better placed than the stock ones, and if anything make my bike feel narrower. I only ever use them as shown below, though.
